indeed, still think one family in particular should face neglect charges
#3
I know what you mean! You can't be drunk with your children, but it's ok to leave them in alone in Portugal :?

But it's all come to light recently that Maddy & the twins were crying for them the night before & they knew about it when they made the decision to go out again & leave them in the apartment alone. I don't even want to think about what they have been going through since & my heart does go out to Maddy & her family, but the blame has got to lie with them as well as the evil person who took her as they are well educated people who definitely should have known better

to be fair,I think the heat got to them,I'm sure you get drunk quicker in Summer and it caught them by surprise.
At least they kept the kids with them while having a drink.
However if their intentions were to have a good drink every single day of the holiday, then they should went by themselves.

The source added: "They were tired, they had woken up at about 4am (to travel to Portugal), then there was the flight. Then it was too hot - they are very red, they got a lot of sun. All this together could be the reason."

Makes perfect sense to me they have just got to live with it now and hope they feel ashamed and never do it again.

I totally agree, there can't be any punishment worse then what they are going through now. They made a very stupid mistake and they are going to have to live with that forever.

That's the worst punishment in my opinion

If they hadn't left the kids alone, then they wouldn't need any punishment.:whistling:

Shocking! Soooooooooo irresponsible, both familys!

A colleague of mine, who is actually in the Algarve holidaying at the moment, texted me this morning about this case. He said that the story is all over the Portuguese media at present and he reckons that they are going to make an example out of the couple, particularly after all the bad press the Maddie McCann story brought to the resort.
#19
I'm sorry but people have been sent to prision for accidently killing somebody, is living with that not a punishment? other parents have been sent to prison for their kids bunking off school, or for leaving them while they went on holiday.

As you may know, I'm an atheist. But there are a few good lessons in the bible and other religious texts that are basically good to live by. One of them uses the idea of not throwing the first stone...

It is good to see the usual voices of reason on here; disappointing again to see the stone-throwers come out to play.
#21
Seems the story has taken another twist. A friend of the family and local councillor from the area that they live has spoken out to say that the mother had been taken violently ill and that the parents are not binge drinkers.

Another point........it seems coincidental that this should happen around the anniversary of Maddie's disappearance.......attention shifting maybe??:whistling:

And btw OP, your byline "One rule for 1 family, another rule for others..." betrays your primary reason for making this thread. The more I think about it, the more I dislike it. You aren't even brave enough to state what it is you want to say, instead using ellipsis (...) and insinuation to get others to do your dirty work for you. Worse, you try to get others to ply their hateful judgements in a careful manner as your later post (below) shows:

Even here you are afraid to say what you really mean (or slyly 'smart'?), relying on your "1 rule" again.

Hope you are proud of yourself - good positive discourse here!

That goes with the presumption that they are innocent in the matter, apart from a dreadful moment (s) of neglect.

Of course some have voiced their opinions that they may have something more sinister to hide. They are after all still 'suspects'.

One thing for sure, it's the poor wee lassie that's suffered most, a tragically shortened life or forcibly removed from her parents.

The investigation continues.

Go figure.

It's true 1 rule, for 1 for another. I see it everyday in life almost everyday.
What I meant by the thread being pulled for others careful what they saying,is not to mention McCanns as practically every mention on any other forum and including this 1 usually gets pulled down.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. There is no need to "get personal" by using a public forum to criticise someone (i.e. Kate and Gerry McCann). The OP did so. I therefore pointed this out by resisting what she was trying to do.
#29
I started the thread as I often start a thread about something I've read on the news anyway.

Shall I start a thread about the many true stories I know of 1 rule for 1 and another for someone else?

Fact of the matter is I think the family were unlucky to get drunk and I think the heat got to them, they obviously concerned and embarrassed it got out of matter has according to news they didn't bother to go to court today and have come bk off their holiday early.
Funny how they got a court hearing so quick...no harm was even done at end of the day,yes it could been but wasn't and now they been dragged through the mud.

I never even mentioned their name in the 1st post opening the thread so how can you imply that I was reffering to them.Other posts them mentioned themand I purely said the thread boutn to get pulled.Every forum online which had a main thread people dicussing what happened there got pulled and people have been told not to discuss ever again on some other forums.

As I just said I'm quite happy to open up a thread about 1 rule for 1 and another for others, how we not all getting a fair deal.

yeh cos of bad taste, like the Shannon Matthews one got pulled down here.

On some other forums like say Mirror newspaper, noone is allowed to mention them,or the thread gets pulled.

The radio report I just heard, suggest that they hadn't been drinking (apart from something with their meal) and both parents collapsed shortly after. Would people be so quick to cry "guilty" if the problem turned out to be food poisoning? We may never find out - but its not always as clear cut as the media paints!

I'm sure the family will speak up on their side of the story anyway,or at least they will do to their local newspapers.
Can't believe everything in news anyway.

C'mon - are you serious you didn't refer to the incident last year ?

You'll make yourself a laughing stock if you keep that pretence up.

Nope I was thinking back to a neighbour we had when I was younger, she was always drunk of vodka, even set her legs alight while drunk, amongst other incidents and noone got social services onto her,and she didn't get any court hearings and she had children in house while in this condition.Amongst looking around in general of similar incidents I see.

But yeh I can see why some people do refer to the McCanns about what I put.

Unfortunately you did keep the pretence up, just look at your headline.

Anyway, keep digging, I'm offski....

If I meant the McCanns then I would mentioned them on the original 1st post.

Thanks in advance for the ban.
