Last year my renewal cam through for my insurance from direct line and although i had never made a claim and had been with them 6 years they put the price up by £130!

So i called them and immediately they put the price down to what it was the yera before

My renewal for this year just came and again they had put £120 ont the price and afer a quick call, knocked that £120 off it.

What annoys me is that they do this? I take it it's in hope that a lot of people don't notice the price increase and just carry on paying it, but it's not really a very good way to treat your loal customers.

do all companys do this?

yes, i have to find a better price before my local brokers knock money off - unfortunately i want to use a broker cos when i have used them in the past they are good to meet face to face, so i have to play the money matching game.

yes i had this with norwich union. last year charged me £400 for car insurance... this year tried to charge me £658 then a week later with another renewal letter £680 :? WHAT like your charging me extra £22 for no reason? LMAO so i told them where to stick it and got insurance elsewhere for £212 fully comp too (including my husband as another drive) BARGAIN! i think they think youve been with them for years so you just keep paying and they try to swindle money out of you (hoping wont notice).

i am with more than for my home and pet insurance last year they put both up a £1 a month and the same again this year even though i have never made a claim!!
so i called to complain and they said its the cost of if everyone else makes a claim blah blah blah, but as it goes they are still the cheapest for what i need so i cant leave lol

i only have contents insurance thou as i dont own my own home if that makes a difference

didnt have car insurance with them thou, mine is £440, but they quoted my £1,500 so i just laughed at them for it

Bloody hell we had a claim for a £900 TV last insurance period yet our bill went down £30ish and level of cover increased in value and with what else it covers as it went form just home contents to home and leisure which oddly includes if we have a horse or pony and it needs putting down due to injury?

my car insurance went up by about 50% this year to around £200 so I did a search around confused.com etc and got the same cover for £86

With the same company! Cheeky so and sos!

yes all companies do this, they try yo say its due to an icrease in tax. if you ask for a deal like some firms advertise they then say its for new customers only. They rely on customers just to renew without phoning. I recently saved my mum £150 on her insurance. Ive had similar experiences with phone, car insurance, holiday insurance and home insureance. Add to that pet insurance.! Shop arround and get the better deal would ne my advise.
