Home cinema surround sound help

Looking to buy a surround sound set for my home - its a small room no bigger than 10x10FT.

I'm just not sure what to get - I'm looking at an ONKTO 6305 package which is the sr508 av receiver and i've found it for £349 new delivered.

But also found a package on a site with the onkyo sr608 av receiver and Jamo A102HCS5 speakers for £499.

Just trying to decide which is best to get obviously there is a price difference but how inferior are the onkyo speakers

Thanks for any help

Youll probably get some decent advice by other members on here, or try avforums. But best bet is to buy seperately.

The 508 is £199 from richer sounds, you could pair that with some boston acoustics xs for around £260 and have a pretty good system.

these are the speakers I like, better than the Jamo IMO

You may be able to get them cheaper than that, someone got some open box ones for £219, will try find the link to those, sure it was posted as a deal. The 508 for £199 is on the front page of the site atm.

Get a discreet speaker package for that room size.

I always say firstly look at what you want, is it purley for movie watching or will you be using it as a stereo too for music listening? Consider your room size, try to get speakers that compliment the accoustics of the room, too large/powerful will sound too bassy and harsh. Your speaker choice will start you off on what spec AV reciever you will need, are you going to require quality speaker cable, consider all cable requirements and lengths including HDMI.

Purely films and tv - So the Onkyo 6305 set will be adequate for it at £350

The Onkyo is decent, bought one from Amazon myself few weeks ago (though 1st one went back due to it needing daily resets!). Its a decent price and does for me fine, its also 7.1 ready so I just need to pick up a few speakers. TBH I think even that is overkill for what you want
