im currently after a new home cinema system (5.1) like this: http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/1573676/art/samsung/ht-tz212-dvd-divx-hdmi-us.html

ive got a budget of upto £150 so im wanting something which is great, now ive had a look and theres not many about which dont come with a dvd player of some sort, ive already got an upscaling dvd player (Philips DVDP5960/05) and quite happy with it.

i do like the look of the samsung ones with all the nice shiney black but do they sound any good? and if i need to get one with a dvd player will it be any better than the one ive already got?

basically looking for some recommendations if anyone can help

cheers in advance

Take a look at avforums - best place to look for surround sound. Not that many options in the £150 budget - do you need amp/ reciever as well or just speakers? Tannoy FX worth looking at, or stretch the budget for 2nd hand kefs.

I have the Samsung HT-310R from Dixons, enter code SAM310R which will discount it to £149.99, there is also a free delivery code if you search in the forum.

It comes with an upscaling DVD player, got very good reviews for the price (RRP £200)

I'm quite happy with it, hope this helps....

There is also a wireless adapter available which turns the rear speakers wireless....

First post.....be kind please......

Have a look at www.richersounds.com.

They have a Sony all in one system for £150 which isnt bad (but might be worth checking if it has an optical input for PS3/Xboxes etc.)

Imho, the better option would be to go for a seperate AV reciever and speakers. Again richer sounds have a Yamaha receiver for about £120 and a set of 5.1 speakers for £50, a bit over budget but more flexible and better sounding.
