I was wondering about home heating oil, where do you get yours from, how soon do they deliver and what are the prices like?
We have run out, so no central heating and no oven :(
I ordered some from Directoil on 6th December but just noticed expected delivery 22nd December - poop!
So, anyone else use oil?

Eeeek! At least it should be here in time for Christmas, but 2 - 3 weeks is a long time to wait, wasn't sure if this was normal.
For the time being I guess it's lots of fires and hot water bottles!
Out of curiosity what prices were you being quoted?

I have a few friends who have oil and are paying between 77 and 88p a litre i had no idea how expensive it is, and the costs are set to go up again in january, ouch

Never a good idea to run out of oil completely before you refill, now you got the pain of bleeding it through before ignition

Yeah, that's why we have about an inch left and turned everything off.

I paid 56.16p/litre this time which doesn't seem so bad against those prices but the last order I placed on 3rd September 2010 was 39.96p/litre - that's about 70% increase, crazy!

i ordered some on the 6th ov Nov from Chandlers Oil & Gas and it came 5 days later.
i ordered 700 litres @ 45p ish , so £330 all in.

The more you order the cheaper you get it 500 litres load was 49p/lt ,1000 litre load was 43p/lt

Yeah, I got 1,250 litres as it was cheaper, prices have shot up though. Out of curiosity what area are you from and what area do Chandlers Oil cover?

I work for an oil supplier and at the moment we have over 1500 orders to get out before Xmas and the orders just keep coming in, we cant gurantee any order that comes in now delivery before the new tear and the way the weather forecast us looking a day or two the tankers won't be going out

Yup I still remember fondly the time I was called out to a customer who's boiler wouldnt light. I get there to find they had ran out of oil and had it refilled. He had been cycling the boiler for hours and hours to no avail. I got there pressed the reset button twice and off she went. He was gutted at the bill my boss sent out, with it being a saturday callout.
