I was told this yesterday by an agent and today is seems it is true.

Home information packs (Hips) will no longer be required from today, the new coalition Government has announced.

This coalition government actually seems to be doing decent things at a decent pace on the face of it.

You sound surprised?

I feel sorry for the company we did some corporate ID for who specialised in HIPs. Oh well.

Yes, it is decent. The HIP removal will benefit far more people.

Its likely just like any government when they seem to get it, they start a few new things that are good to make people trust them then the rest of the time nothing really that good.

About time was a complete waste of expensive paper.

Yes, extensive bureaucracy benefits noone except these little leech companies.

I've been told that you still need to have an energy performance cert apparently ?
These are a lot cheaper though :)

upto 3000 people out of a livelihood now, dont get me wrong - I was completely against their introduction but once they were introduced and people paid good money to train and set up a business to do etc they should have been given more time

About time may this be the first of many axes to fall. Yes I feel sorry for the people who have lost their jobs BUT the hips were a waste of money, any one could see that.

It was a very blatant excuse to charge some dosh and create jobs that are in all essence "non jobs", not needed and a total waste.

A legacy of the last govt, excess paperwork, bureaucracy an irrelevant jobs, we don't need, i'd expect more of this to come.

Not true.

The Energy Performance Certificate is still required.

Not true. An energy performance assessor will still be able to carry out these assessments. If they dealt in the complete HIP they will not be at a complete loss.

This is a proper ball ache for me.

*runs off to modify case management system at work*

and its decent to force people to pay hundreds of £'s out for something that is, in reality, useless.

Don't know how much it cost for the training but a few HIPS should have paid that back so unless they qualified extremely recently they won't have exactly lost anything.

is there a case to be had to retrieve the money back?

We have clients at work who were only waiting on their EPC to complete their HIP. Couple of hundred quid wasted for each of them, they are not happy!

Well all you need to do is provide the buyer with the Energy Performance Certificate and then have the buyer purchase your clients searches as they have no obligation to forward them on.

Doubt it, however coalition voters should have seen it coming.
