I think you'd have to been on Mars for the last 50 years to not realise that Horse Racing is fixed.

Never been into betting on the horses or dogs for this reason. All one person sports are suspect to me and although probably just as bad team sports seem fairly immune from it.

Yes but now they are actually looking at charging at least 13 people involved jockeys, trainers, etc
banned#3
Time they scrapped the "sport".

They have charged and found guilty similar in the past haven't they, this isn't the first and will not be the last. It seems to be in most sports now, the massive money in gambling is making it lucrative enough to fix events now.

It is a sport in the same way boxing is. Not! The only difference is that jockey's use a whip to beat the horse.

you've still got to guess one's been fixed to win. So it's still a complete punt...

The evil in this "sport" is Betfair. This allows people to basically bet on someone or something to win or lose. It hasn't taken the integrity out of most sports. I would dare say hundreds of thousands of £'s each day is placed by someone with inside info. i.e. A horse trainer who has the favourite in a race say 1/3f which is a massive fave. He can tell the jockey to flash to the front. As the horsestrides clear his price on betfair would be 10 to one on. So a punter on betfair only needs £100 in his account at 1/10 to earn £1000. Then the jockey pulls the horse up or just doesn't travel very well coming home.

It stinks from top to bottom. How easy is it for a darts player to miss doubles or snooker player to miss a few easy blacks. Betfair gives people the chance to earn money by failing. Too dirty and dark for sport.

Think it should be banned.

its not a sport, its jockeys are actually midgets who couldnt grown to full height or put on any weight.

Yes they do. Did you not hear or read the complaints from viewers of the recent Grand National? Anyway see here http://www.animalaid.org.uk/h/n/NEWS/news_horse/ALL/2480//

in a few cases a jockey goes over the top and for that they should get bans, but thats no different to any other sport. Should all tackling be banned in football because some players deliberately try to hurt other players?
If used correcty the whip shouldn't hurt the horse, and is needed to keep them going the right way.
