  Closer to home for you if you don't mind the M62 west...we have a great Beatles themed hotel that is top quality and has a superb restaurant and right in the middle of all the action Liverpool has to offer.

  Superb reviews, often have famous celebs there, not quite as cosmo as Brighton but a close alternative maybe.

  Thanks, I actually stayed here about 2 years ago for a works xmas do, woke up with a massive hangover at about 10.30, looked outside the window and there was somesort of santa marathon going on, literally hundreds of santas running past! Surreal times. Must say my room was just a normal hotel room, probably one of the cheapest ones there though as the company were paying for quite a few.

  what are you going to brighton for i drove down the A1 it is a long drive but a nice place it has a huge gay community so if you dont mind that then you will love it

  I was thinking of this hotel but could not even come close to its name, I saw it on the channel 4 b&b programme and remembered all the quirky rooms. The owner 'Danny lambo' is a nutter (in a nice way) very extrovert and made it a great show despite the breakfast, lol which from memory was a fun ordeal but not to the guests cup of tea.
  
  Could be just what you are looking for and only just over 2 hrs away by train from Mcr....
