I went last year and stayed in the Hilton Times Square. Really central and could walk to shops on 5th Ave etc. There was 3 of us so shared a family room so wasn't too expensive. Its nice and clean and safe, didn't have meals there but you are spoilt for choice for restaurants, lots of delis around hotel which do great breakfasts. Also stayed at the Ritz Carlton central park which is very pricey and very nice. Hope they have a fab time!

Was in NY end of March, stayed in the Iroquois a block away from Times Square. Very nice hotel with friendly, helpful and honest staff. I'd go back tomorrow.

Your best bet is probably to go t trip advisor (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels), you can look at reviews etc. of hundreds of hotels there...

I stayed at On The Ave, got a cheap deal via TripAdvisor too, would definitely recommend it!

+1 - Hilton is really nice and central and lovely hotel. Have also stayed at the Radio City Apartments which was excellent and really cheap, its a hidden gem. Though that was a few years ago!

No it was the Hilton Times Square right in the thick of things.

Staying anywhere near Times Square sounds horrible. Why stay there? It's not the best place in New York by any stretch of the imagination.
