im looking for something that not too far from shopping and nice restaurants.

also whats the shopping like there ? is it expensive, being its a inflated city..

Its expensive.

I stayed at

Holiday Inn Garden Court PARIS-TOUR EIFFEL
102 Boulevard de Grenelle
Paris
75015

This is on a long main street and has a traditional market out front on some days which is excellent if you dont want to walk far for some nice fresh food.

Its also about a 15 min walk from the tower which I had clear veiw from my hotel room. It was central enough for me to go for a walk alone the Seine and to major tourist spots.

:)

Edit : if you see 2 guys in overcoats with drawing pads near the tower then give them a kick in the nuts for me please. They are useless artists that charge a fortune! aka scammers!

I stayed at the 4* Concorde Lafayette! Expensive it was but dang look out the window and Eiffel tower, has it's own shopping centre connected to it and a brilliant yet expensive bar on the top with windows looking out to the Eiffel Tower.

Paris is expensive but some decent places around. If you like heights check out Tour Montparnasse, you can go right to the top, the lift was extremely fast!!

The shopping area is champs elysees a number of branded shops including LV etc, expensive of what I saw.

Use google streetmap to look around. You will get more euros for your pound than you have for a while right now, so make the most of it.
