Hotmail Question.....

I had a text of my mate saying he has received SPAM from my hotmail address,

I've logged in and there's nothing in my SENT box. Have I been hacked? or is it just an e-mail I've opened that I shouldn't have?

you might have a virus

I won't have one at home as I always keep my antivirus and malware protector up to date, and never had this problem before.

It could be from my work computer as at the moment im only using a free version of avast on my computer. I'll see if it's just one email or if any other of my contacts reports it to me.

i always get spam messages from mny friends hotmail (more than one) generally about cheap iphones or viagra.

Could be that their account security has been compromised & someone is spamming them using identities off their contact list so that they're more likely to open the message

I had this for months...kept sending out these emails to most of my contacts. I did several malware scans which did not come up with anything. Changing my password on hotmail got rid of the problem

I had this problem on my AOL account. Not sure what caused it but it was likely using a computer in a hotel I was staying in.

I deleted all my contacts on the account & it's never happened since.

I had this a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how it happened, as i was away on holiday when it happened, so it couldn't have been a virus on my pc, which was turned off, and neither had i logged onto my e-mails whilst away.
