Just wondering how people feel when they post a good deal such as the latest B&Q alarm deals and then see people selling them on fleebay for profit.
Does it put you off posting deals knowing that some people will see your deals and go and buy loads and stick them on fleebay, when you actually hoped people would just be able to get a bargain for themselves from your post?
Or is it a case of first come first served and if people want to put stuff on fleebay to make money good luck to them?

I'd love to know people's opinions on this. :)

i agree mate its dis heartening

but that is human nature, no matter what anyone does there will always be some numpties out there who will buy 10 for ebay and 1 for themselves lol

(not me by the way!)

Its the greed that gets me annoyed and then they come on here brag how many they bought and then tell us what a profit they made on ebay (like the wii for a good example from mini1) That to me is running a small business !

Yep, that's life I'm afraid. Early bird gets the worm, dog eat dog, etc :whistling: :whistling:

im all for it , if someone makes a few quid then good luck to them , it doesnt hurt the site and should make it more popular here as more and more people hunt deals so more and more deals displayed , got to be good news for us all

It's a shame that such a large community couldn't do something better for each other. Someone says i'm looking for a Wii, they become available when i'm online and I buy one for the other member. It's something that's so complicated to implement though!

Hmmm, I lost myself there somewhere!

true it is a pain in the backside, unfortunately you cant stop people being greedy and trying to make a quick buck, this very evening I saw a deal for some DVD's from Amazon, within a few hours it had gone from number 9000 in their list to number 55!!! I meen ffs, surely that many people di not buy it, it was more likely that several people bought 10+ copies of the same thing, alerting Amazon, and in the morning the offer will no longer stand.
People like this realy P me off!!

i think its worse when people use this site just to make profit from selling the bargain on, it would be much fairer if people just bought goods they actually wanted to keep and not just sell.

things like the £2 bed spring to mind, how many people bought them and are actually using them now? some people that missed out will have needed one for example.

but like has been said thats just the way of the world, HUKD is just another tool for some members to make money from.

He he. Well in the distant past, Ive certainly bought some stuff cheap with the intention of selling on in ebay. (Not I might add from anything found here - I am talking yonks ago!) Just too lazy to do it! Got loads of R1 and R2 DVDs unopened sitting on a shelf - (When DVDs were the "new thing") - ready for when I got round to it! Probably end up in a charity shop now!

Unless youve got really "lucky", ebay now is rarely a place for bargains - or make a profit from things bought to sell on it. Its definately lost its appeal - with too many scammers and dodgy fakes floating around.

Personally I ain't got a problem with it - though I fully understand the negativitey of missing a bargain because you were too late for an ebayer purchaser!

I agree 100% :-( :-(

It sucks. I don't post deals that I am interested in myself any more, and I am sure a lot of others are the same. Sharing something with the regulars on this site, the people that give a lot to it is definitely something I like doing, but when I know I am mainly giving to the leechers (how many regular members v 'guests') who are just buying what they can from eBay...nope, sorry pass.

Leechers go against the spirit of the site imho, and that in turn makes others go against the spirit of the site by not sharing :(

You'd rather pay inflated prices on ebay than get the bargains here? I doubt it.

Yes, it's very annoying!

I'm sure a lot of you have noticed, I post a lot of deals and I do it purely to say thanks for all the savings I've made since I joined the site nearly a year ago but then I findout that some people abuse the system by buying in bulk to make a profit from my findings.

That makes me think, you know, this product is now out of stock at the ridiculous low price because someone went and ordered 100+ units and now he's selling it on Ebay for a tidy sum from my efforts, why shouldn't I keep the deal to myself and do the same and then there will be less competition, which will mean I could get more money.

Fortunately, I'm not a greedy person and think all communities should think the same, as it's about helping one another.
I really don't mind if people buy a couple to sell but it's frustrating when they stop others from benefitting from the deal because of there greed.

The worst case, which will remain unnamed but you know who you are, sent me a PM asking if I can locate an item for him, which he's struggling to find at a good price for his sons birthday.
I took the time out to try and find it for him and was going to list it on the forums after he confirmed he bought it (because I found it at a dirt cheap price) just incase they ran out of stock, only to then findout he purchased 100's of them and he's going to list it all on Ebay for a nice profit. :x

I don't know if he did buy one for his son as well but I did get the feeling that it was just a story to get someone else to do the work for him.

I'm sure he's not the only one that does it but it really does kill the spirit of the forums. :-(

Further to my comments, I was actually in the middle of just writing up a loophole that I've just discovered and then I deleted it because I know it will be sorely abused and then everyone will miss out and the people that abuse it, will surely then just sell on the product for a huge profit. :-(

I feel terrible about this but unfortunately that's the way the forums has become and the genuine people will lose out.

When HMV recently had Homicide Season 2 on offer for £9.99 I picked up mine just after from an ebayer that had several listed & I picked it up for £8 (New & sealed). He'd obviously bought up some thinking it would be an easy profit, but a stack of others did the same. Out of his £8 sale price take his listing fees, final value fees (9%) & postage (the boxset came in the original HMV packaging & with the £9.99 barcode sticker on!) & he got £5-6 for an item he bought for £10! So in actual fact it can be a positive on occasion!?!...That's sometimes the price you pay for the investment/'gamble'!?!

My OH is an ebay powerseller selling predominantly games & DVD's for a small mark up but reasonable turnover & better profit than bank interest rates!
As this is just a sideline we hunt out what we would call 'renewable stock'. By this I mean games or DVD's that we can buy in, list & turn around with minimal effort, then restock from the same source & relist. This is obviously not the same as 'while stocks last' deals that would deny others & mean her having to create new listings each week.

Both her & myself have posted deals here that have benefitted others & it was while looking for this type of renewable stock that I 'discovered' a little known company that wasn't on the price comparison sites, wasn't on Quidco or any of the other cashback sites but offered a fantastic service (delivery time & prices). I was the person that added UWISH to the merchants list & got people checking out there prices & their is now not a week goes by without a handful of deals posted for UWISH.

Finally it's worth pointing out that while Ebayers may be the most 'visible' of the 'bulk buyers' there have been plenty of other deals posted that include the trade-in price at CEX, Blockbuster, Game. etc some of which have been exclusively with the intent of getting one product from these retailers at a lower price by trading in several titles or copies of the same that they have bought via 'here' & possibly denying others who just wanted the game itself....are these people any better?

Hi mate,

It's all good what you do, I really don't mind if people buy in small quantities, as long as they don't go OTT and purchase 100's for pure profit and everyone else misses out on the deal.

Besides, you've always given back to the community in every possible way, so you could never be judged in the same way, even if you did go OTT. :)

I do feel for those that really want an item then some plonk comes on and says "great ordered 20 for fleabay". And never do you see those same members offer the other member one of their 20, this site does encourage greed, but it also helps those who otherwise wouldnt be able to afford half of what they get

Keep it up everyone because once the all the buckets are full, I have to take them down to Bernard Matthews factory to process it into Turkey Ham. :giggle: They definitely smell the same as well but it has a higher percentage of meat created in better conditions too, so it may have to go in there premium range. :p

Come on Dino, I'm sure you could come up with more original jokes, that's definitely not the first time I've heard you use that line and I'm sure it won't be the last. :whistling:

I dont particularly use ebay so cannot really comment. I have saved (and spent!!) a fortune after 'finding' HUKD and am simply grateful for that.

I think it is annoying that people will see this site as a mechanism to profit - but I dont think there is anything that can be done.

I was in Tesco today and saw a couple eyeing up a 15" lcd tv with freeview for £149.99. I stopped and mentioned that Argos are doing the same deal for £99.99 (I'd seen it posted on HUKD). They said 'yeah we know but its trying to find them in stock as they have all gone'. I thought what a shame a nice old couple that are just looking for a new tv for the bedroom, but because the deal is swept up so soon a beeter deal is not available.

I suppose the question should be should the suppliers make sure sufficient stock is in place, or offer raincheck vouchers for when it is back in stock.

P.S. This is a joke.

If anyone is having trouble getting a Wii, the best advice I can give is to ask in store at Woolies if they can reserve one for you. You may be put on a list, but they usually get a few in every week and do call you up when they arrive.

^^^
also applies to gamestation too i remember the last time when they were out of stock everywhere so we resorted to ebay and payed £220 but the guy did deliver it himself to us
#34
i agree ther are some rotten devours people out ther
#35
Maybe it can be looked at as being "greedy"

but I also think a lot of the sour feelings is based on jealously. I know I wonder sometimes why don't I make money from all those daft enough to pay more on fleabay or whatever.

End of day if someone invests hundreds with the posibility of making money then well done them, they deserve it for taking the risk which others aren't prepared to take :)
