House buying and my wife.... I lolled.

So.... On Saturday my wife was depressed because she wants a house. We talked about it for a bit and she starts looking on the internet. She sees this house in Dover and shows me, I see potential so she tries to ring the EA on Sunday, closed. We drive out there anyway to have a look. She liked it, I didn't as it had a weird shaped living room, no room for a 42" tv. Brilliant view of Dover castle though. Turns out it was sold anyway and the EA was just too lazy to amend the details.

Monday she rings EA's and books loads of viewings then we go to see a mortgage broker, then off to stalk the houses she had viewings on.

Tuesday we view 2 houses, first one was a no hoper. Second one was ok. Needs a bit of work, but nothing major. Wife has a bit of a haggle.

This morning she makes a formal offer and seller accepts.

Difficult to buy a house these days? Yeah right. PMSL. Now the 'fun' begins....

Getting an offer accepted is the easy part... now just wait and see
If you don't have one to sell as well though, you will find it easier, as you're the end of the chain and way less stressfull.

Just hope the chain isn't too long!

Well as long as the survey comes back clean there 'shouldn't' be a problem :)

No chain, we sold last year and the sellers ready to go.

Well that's it. It's got a driveway that will hold 2 cars but as I said to the wife, I can easily get 6 on here. She wasn't impressed

seriously, you shouldnt buy the 2nd house you've looked at or am I mis-reading?

check out the land registry to see what prices other properties have sold for in that area.

out of interest, what % did you get off the asking price as 15-20% has been bandied about?

and dont forget to ask if there have ever been any disputes with the neighbours as they dont have to tell you unless you ask I believe.

I have a dishwasher!
I should be sat at a breakfast bar, looking out of the window and enjoying meals.

Keeping the caravan as a holiday retreat?

Well good luck with the new house - hope it all goes smoothly.

I'm not sure that they have been saying it's hard to buy - more like hard to sell. Not that I have my finger on the housing market pulse. ;-)
