I think it would be better if we could only vote hukd deals hot or not at all.

What do people think?

I think this should be in feedback.
I also think it is ok as it is with hot and cold options.

then there would be no sense in voting really
#3
is this because your current deal is cold

Yes partly but I've had heat before anyway it's just that it would stop cold votes for no reason and would still give heat to those that people like but quicker as there would be no cold vote to counter it.

I'll probably get cold votes for my deal by even mentioning this but whenever you submit a deal and you get cold votes straight off your deal has very little chance to recover even if it is a good deal hence why i thought Hot or nothing would be better that's all.
#6
I have also noticed a fair few comments on other deals saying that hukd users have voted cold by mistake. This possible Hot only change would eliminate that also.

Also I would rather flick through the deals that have been voted hot and decide which ones I like rather than miss out on deals that have been voted both hot and cold (and therefore no heat overall) that end up languishing in the HUKD wilderness and never seen.

That's why you have the choice of looking at 'hot' or 'discussed'.

It's about time this was brought up.

That only works if you click on 'new' like every hour otherwise minor deals pass you by or you have to click new then flick through pages of deals that were submitted that day or search via categories etc.

Looks like i'm probably on my own with this one :p

Personally I never use the cold vote button. If I don't like the deal or have no knowledge of the product in the deal then I ignore it and only vote hot for the deals i know or feel are good.

It sure is!!

I seem to recall this being mentioned (every day) before (today): voting cold without a reason.

Also see: Can you get banned for voting cold too often?

and: Voting Cold on a deal just because you don't like the product

Most recently (I think): New help section and voting guidelines.

No. It's a stupid idea, been discussed many times, general consensus each time is that it's a stupid idea.
#17
Fair enough.

Looks like this discussion is dead in the water then.
#18
It's a valid discussion; it just nevers seems to gain any traction with the site representatives.

Note how the guidelines have change with the site re-design as mentioned in the last of the links I posted above.

to be honest people vote cold and dont post why...they should do it so that if you vote cold it forces you to leave a comment before the cold vote takes effect. at least then there is a reason for why it is a cold vote/deal.
#20
Again, a good suggestion, but that would cue the moaners who (also) cannot cope with the [Edit this comment] mandatory reason text, or the enforced cold comment would end up being a collection of random characters.

Does that mean you only check out deals once they've been made hot? There's a good chance that the deal may be OOS by the time you get round to checking it out if that's the case.

How about you are forced to search before you post?
There are loads of posts just like this one out there.

I saw a post once for a slinky substitute but the actual product was about a fifth of the size of the original.
I voted cold and tried to warn people that the product was rubbish.
If any one bought the product they would certainly be upset, like me, with what they had bought.

Some people on here think I shouldn't have voted it cold 'cos it was the best price for the item at the time.
I agree that it was the best price for the item, but that doesn't mean the item was any good.

At the end of the day, what you are saying is that anyone who posts a deal on here will get nothing but hot votes.
WHAT A LOAD OF TOSH.

Get in the real world where some people will post absolute crap.
Are you going to buy everything that gets posted then?

so, someone posts a crap deal and someone points to a cheaper deal. Then EVERYONE who votes cold has to give the same reason.

people should think a little more before posting ideas lol

people get too hung up on cold votes. Get over it!

If someone else points to a cheaper deal then the thread gets expired....simple? no? at least there is a reason in the thread for why it is cold instead of the cold votes and no reason as to why it cold. i dont usually check out the deals or post any but when i do see some that i thought were a decent price and see it cold would be nice to know why it is cold especially if its available cheaper elsewhere instead of it being cold say for it being an apple product or a ps3/xbox that is voted cold solely because the people voting dont like them
