Wannabe Mod Complex.

People have to make themselves feel big somehow.
#11
I think some people think that if they dont agree with what you say that means they can spam/expire the whole thread.

crazy really as everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

No, I think everyone can afford free range eggs. It's only 30p extra.

i think only the poster and mods should be allowed to expire
#18
how do you know who has expired something?

I don't know the thread that you are referring to, but, if a thread is expired, it's expired. Why would someone need to comment in it, thus bumping it just to be able to expire it? :?

The title will be prefaced with "Expired"

Wouldn't be practical - too much work for the mods to constantly check every deal to make sure it's still available, and you can't rely on the OP to hang around and check every five minutes either.

Most people expire or spam threads for the right reasons, and the benefits more than makes up for the smaller number of times when the system is abused. If you think it is being abused or wrongly expired you simply contact the mods to look into it.

And how exactly would that explain WHO expired it. (Which was the question.)

Maybe there should be something that shows "Expired by TheSaint" or who ever it was that expired a thread. Might make members think twice about it.

I'd agree with that too, if it could be implemented easily. It would put an end to all these threads asking who did it, and reduce the need to write posts explaining why one expires/spams. It would also make it clear if someone is deliberately targeting the poster rather than the thread.

Got to disagree, it would just lead to more bullying of members. Members aren't entitled to know "Whodunnit".
The person doing so would then have to explain to the latest cliqué why they'd done so.

The mods can see exactly who spam and expires every thread. They then punish those who do it maliciously.

Yet you write in feedback about the mods....

I rarely see them do anything anymore.

Change of heart or just confused?

It was no surspise to see you being against the idea. Pretty obvious why that would be.

Ok, I'm hearing you. But in the long run, transparency is a good thing. Those who like to bully and accuse get more mileage out of things being kept opaque. It gives them a chance to throw accusations around to satisfy their blood-lust.

Even if someone is expiring or spamming a lot of threads, I don't see any problem as long as they have a valid reason for doing so. For example, I spammed two threads today, but I'm happy for people to know I did. One was extremely offensive to a minority group and the other was self-promotion. As long as you spam for the right reasons, fair-minded people will recognise that. And remember, it takes more than one member to spam a thread properly.

I have no idea. A lot of people are confused, and jump to conclusions that are usually wrong.
Maybe the thread he/she was referring to held the answer? Maybe there was no replies in the thread?

I just don't think it would work. Simpletons such as these thrive on petty things like this, and whip the other followers into a frenzy.

The "Fair minded" are silent, and don't pull up the usual suspects for attacking members like myself who help HUKD run smoothly by spamming and expiring threads consistently, and correctly.

I know, I wrote an award winning thread about it. :)

Hmmmm - if we all behave perfectly politely all of the time towards each other and stop taking so much notice of comments that don't need to be blown out of context, then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Interesting how in the main, the same members names pop up.....

Cloud the cat.

Still purrring
