how can hong kong businesses afford to post items sold for 1p?

ive always wondered how these hong kong businesses are selling items such as ds styluses or screen protectors for 1p and posting them. I bought a screen protector once and it even turned up in a jiffy bag which alone is worth 20p. So how can they post, pack, write labels/print etc for just 1p? Are they doing it to build feedback or get our details?
Would love to know this tbh.

yeah on ebay, i thought they were doing it to build up feedback to start a scam or something, but surely they are losing a few pound an item? the protector itself is worth about 50p, jiffy bag 20p, labels etc 10p, time and listing fees say 30p, postage about 2 pound on an item like this? (from hong kong) i know they are feather light but still gonna cost some money

Maybe its a billionnaire bored of spending money all day so has decided to give something small back to the world lol.

If it was to get good feedback they'd sell all the stuff to their mates and get them to sell it or whatever?

Not sure why to be honest.

For every Screen Protector they sell, they install a microscopic spy system, and record every detail about you such as your credit card number, bra size etc

I heard it from Q

Okay il tell you how it works.

I sold them all - but the prices were an error. So if you can all send the actual amount owed, i would be grateful. Prefferably via paypal gift :whistling:.

I see this alot on ebay. But I do notic you never get a good postage discount so if you buy more than 2 items they should make some money.
#22
I think this is just done to attract consumers, as I think if you try to buy again from the same item from the same seller, you will not be able to, as they ban on you for that item for a while.
I guess they are just trying to build some sort of reputation at the end of it.

i think op means websites such as dealextreme or focalprice.

when the dollar was bad those sites were great. most things being priced at $2

Agreed, that is what happens on ebay. watch the seller get feedback of over 500 on nothing items, then they list 1000s of ds's psp's all ending within 1 week (no bad feedback yet) and screw people over just before christmas. check feedback just after christmas

Don't hold me to this but I once heard that some Chinese/Japanese banks do things like this to show a deficit/loss as a form of tax avoidance 'scam' in their home country.
#31
its obviously some scam/attempt to fool someone. In the long run they are going to attempt to run off with out money, but short term we are getting cheap acessories for our gaming needs.

Well, I have been ordering from dealextreme for about 2 years, so if they are doing it to rip us off later, they are taking their sweet time.

not always the case, have a read of the blog given earlier (post 9), the explanations given on it make sense as I've been an ebay seller for the past few years
