HI all, I was on O2 Select before buying an iphone, the operator in the o2 store told me that nothing would change other than the fact I would have an iphone.

3 months down the line, I have no o2 select, I am stuck with an 18 month contract. And I cant even take the sim out and use it in another phone!!

Iphone is doing my nut cos it keeps crashing and the bluetooth dont work!!!!!!

O2 said they would block the sim if I use it in another phone!!! aaaaaaahhhhhhhh

I know, but they have told me that the sim is modified for the iphone, and wont work in another handset.

I have not tried this, but o2 seem to be covering every corner. If I take out the sim it voids the warranty lol.

there is software that the phone companies use, that identifies the handset via the imei number, and also the sim card.

They know, you know.

Seriously though, does every iphone user know that they are stuck with the iphone for 18 months?? And that there will be no upgrade allowance after this? You basically continue to pay or end the contract.

They cant block your sim becuase it its in another phone, you can use it when and wherever your want. Dont worry, if they do block, then send them a letter in the post and say unblock otherwise you will take it to court. Cost you about £30 to take them to court and they wont turn up, trust me and then you win hehe. The law states that every product in the UK sold and made, has to have a min of 12 months warrenty.

At least O2 have increased the minutes and texts for the i phone (possibly because of the poor take up),
£35 for 600 mins & 500 texts
£45 for 1200 mins & 500 texts
£75 for 3000 mins & 500 texts
alot better deal than before christmas, all they need to do is make the phone FREE.:whistling:

It will never be free - O2 don't get anything from the Iphone cost, that goes straight to Apple

I know what you are saying. Just been on the phone to O2 again, a team leader this time. They have said that the iphone sim will be blocked if I change it and put it in another phone. aAAhhhh

O2 get a fair chunk of money for this.

18 months at a minimum of £35 per month?

All O2 get is the line rental & calls - not one penny of the IPhone handset.

Someone above said to reduce the handset price, but its not down to O2.

Just wait a few months til the new range of Iphones come out - Nokia's own one is meant to be good :)

Actually o2 don't even get that - apparently Apple are taking quite a big cut of the line rental as well, 35% was the last figure I saw.

they said the n95 non 8GB version (that was £350 on 18 month contract) would never drop in price, low and behold, 3 months later all networks are giving them away, Orange even give you free ipod nano, & £150 cashback, all phones drop in price, it is only a matter of time, when the next must have phone appears, and iphone sales fall.
