How can i get an unlock phone code from Orange?

makershaker Avatar

Bought a phone on ebay last night from a reputable seller. Problem is the phone (nokia 6220 classic) is locked to orange and i'm with O2! Went to a shop today and asked if they could do it and the guy told me with that particular phone they'd have to send it away for around 5 days and it would cost me £25!

Just wondering if theres anyway i could get the code quicker and cheaper from orange?

Ofcourse it wont.... The 6220 Classic is a BB5+ handset, please try a little research before replying as you will end up just making the OP stop the phone being unlocked using a code, you only have 3 attempts and FREE codes wont work, I know because I invented the FREE online unlocking...

To get the unlock code from Orange you will have to call them, they charge £20 however they may take some time providing the code some times. Average price at most shops will be £25, there are only 2 methods for unlocking

1, Unlock code from the NETWORK (NO FREE CODES, No free random number generators sold on ebay etc,...)
2, DM3 team unlock, they usually travel the UK and are normally in most towns for a few hours a week, Birmingham is Wednesday and Sunday... They charge all shops the same price, so average price like I said will be the same

Please Note: If you have just bought this handset of Ebay, please be aware that people do list their upgrades/contract handsets, so if it gets blocked after you have had it unlocked, you will still have had to pay for the unlocking... Check its not blocked on Orange before having it unlocked. To try and get the code from Orange yourself, you will need to register the handset with a Orange sim card, then you can call them, etc, however essential check before hand that its not blocked

But can i just say i bought the phone from ebay? Someone probably got it on contract and decided to sell cos they didnt fancy it? What should i say when i phone em?
#5
Do these things really work? Defininitly work for 6220 classic even though its a BB5 phone?

No they dont always work with all handsets and all firmware versions... :) most the new software updates from Nokia have fixed the glitch that made those sims work, you can always try it though and sell it on if it doesnt work...

Sorry mate, I was just editing my post :)

1, You need to check the phone is not blocked already, try another working Orange sim card in the phone or ask the shop to try for you, if it is blocked the phone will display "Sim Card Registration Failed"

2, If its not blocked, register an Orange sim card with the phone then a while later call and ask for the phone, saying you wanted to go abroad for a few weeks and you didnt want to use roaming. They may not still give you the code though as if its a contract handset, the phones not technically the persons to sell until the contract period has expired, so you wouldnt technically be the owner :)

Im sorry mate I wasnt meaning to brag about it or anything, lol it was a long time ago...

I made the code calculator years ago, there where calculators before this however mine was the first online, it was when the calculator was Dongle protected... My app was first built as an application that calculated the code and then uploaded it through sockets to users browset....

It then went from this to a Java applet, that was given with source code to everyone and anyone could add it to their site, etc....

It then went to PHP, however if you use wayback machine etc, you will see NokiaFX was the first with the codes before nokiafree and the others, infact I think the site above was one of the last to have something like that...

Hmmm looking at all these suggestions and answers makes me think i'm probably just better off taki g it to the shop and paying the £25 for it, then its opened up for good and thats that plus i can update the firmware.

Yup mate, although if you get the code from Orange it will also be permanently unlocked so you can update the firmware then too... however there is also the possibility that the previous owner has already used up all attempts on the phone using free code generators :)

What does that mean if they have tried it, then even a shop wont be able to unlock it?
banned#16
No the shop can as they dont use codes... you only have 3 attempts for the code unlock on these, so if they have already tried with wrong codes, even if you have the correct codes it will not work for you

The shop/DM3 method isnt using these codes

There are a couple of postal unlock services for about £20, however with your postage costs it tends to cost you the same anyway, so best to take it somewhere local :)

Works in both my N95's running the latest firmware.

Hmmm, couldnt i just put a pay as you go orange sim in and download the latest firmware, then stick a turbo sim in it?

Also, what make of turbo sim do you use on your N95?
#20
it shouldnt cost more then £20....and he says 5 days as theyll send the phoen off....they dont have good links!

Ah you have newer one? I thought by classic you meant little bit old skool, sorry bud!

Why not just ring orange and ask them for it first? Do they charge loads of dosh to do it?

Only other place I found was here and they want 17 squid...and take 24hrs-5days... sounds risqueyyyyy

The turbo sims, nokey and others all rely on a bug in the firmware to work, some work on some phones, some do not, some work on some firmware versions some do not... If you upgrade the firmware whether it is debranded or Orange branded if the bug has been fixed the sim may not work... The 6220 Classic is newer than the N95, however I have had a few N95's even that dont work with these

Dejan BB5 logger and calc

Back in the daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay I used to flash unlock DCT3 nokias with those patch files on nfree.org. I remember having loads of programs like jethro and what not... this Dejan name if I remember was/is bit of a legend...I dunno exactly if it will work, but may be worth a shot... I haven't downloaded it...I don't know if you need cables for it either but thought I'd share the info.

oh you might need this link too.

Yes he is a legend and a very good guy and this will work... On the N70, 6630 and 6680 :)

To unlock the 6220 Classic yourself, you will need the Dejan BB5 SP Unlocker 2 (BB5 TRK Unlocker), you can buy it for about £185 which you can use to unlock 10 phones :) or you can get it for £860 and use it to unlock 50 phones...

Mate ... please... I'm not stupid... do a bit of googling and you can do it for free with a standard usb data cable. gsm-forum.eu.

Did you spend 300+ quid on unlock boxes? No... u are not stupid either you would buy the cables for 10 bucks or make em yourself... don't take me for a noob.

OH And it is tried and tested on the 6220c so at least get that right.

EDIT:

Just because I been out of the game for years doesn't mean the rules have changed.

LMAO, Mate you really really really do need to do some research, lol, lol, that has to be the funniest thing ever, we have much more than £300 worth of unlocking equipment if you really think everything is free and done using £10 worth of cables you really have been out for a long long time, lol , lol OMG, lol thanks mate, you really made my day, :)

£300 worth of unlocking equipment

I don't doubt this.

What I'm saying is that flash solutions and the plethora of pricey boxes are not for individuals. They are for people/businesses unlocking/flashing/repairing phones all day long. There are flash cable solutions for peanuts out there... don't tell me YOU didn't know this... that can do exactly the same stuff when it comes to simply unlocking the phone.
#34
The solution I used to have for example (those cables with the different DCT3 connectors) was capable of flashing DCT3 phones with the right software... The SAME solution was often sold for around 200+ to people that did not do their research and the boxes sold for silly money (but they were capable of doing more stuff).
Because I DID MY RESEARCH I just paid 15 quid for those cables and used the available software to flash the memory (sometimes had to downgrade firmware .... no biggie) but then the calcs came out which you invented and I ditched the cables.

The game remains the same...thank you for your time...glad I made you laugh...please release another free calculator when you invent it.

There is flashing equipment available and software to do this however this is different to unlocking, these are not unlocked through flash patching...

The professional equipment is used not just by people who are too lazy to research each handset, it is used as it does more than the free stuff, the free stuff is usually released for testing purposes before the full edition is released it usually has limited functionality, etc... The professional equipment such as the MtBox and Jaf for Nokia is used as it allows you to flash and repair handsets even those killed by using free stuff :)

As I said there is no FREE solution for these handsets, I do not get paid for saying this and I am not making a penny by sending the OP to another phone shop, I am saying it as its a FACT as of 20th February 2009 :)

BB5 Handsets & History

Dejans FREE Unlocker released a while ago, made it possible to unlock a few RAP3G Nokia handsets, it worked on only a few, this is a fact and this software is different to the version 2 unlocker I mentioned in my post (£185)

Previous BB5 handsets where unocked using Jaf, MtBox, Noox box, BB5 Box and others, these phones where unlocked through testpoint, the phone was take apart testpoint needles had to be connected to certain points on the PCB, this took a while and some where more awkward than others and where done under a microscope... Thats why there where different prices for the different phones e.g N73 difficult, 6300 easy....
This has only just changed recently a NO Testpoint solution was released, which would unlock through FBUS, using these boxes without having to take the phone apart... This still uses the boxes and required further paid activation from the box makers.

Newer BB5 handsets, newer BB5 handsets like the 6220 Classic can only be unlocked
1, Network unlock code (only if you havent already used up all the attempts, using FREE codes)
2, DM3 Team Unlock, available in most areas around the UK a few days a week, need to contact a decent phone shop.
3, Dejan BB5 SP Unlocker 2 (BB5 TRK Unlocker), like I already mentioned, you need logs to use this, 10 logs are £185 and 50 logs are more, I think you can buy 1 log which is £22 but you need the JAF box to use it

4. BB5 Sim, I shouldnt add this as technically its not unlocking the phone, its hit and miss and doesnt always work, however its not actually unlocking the phone, once you remove it the phone is still locked...

FREE codes will not work on it, the free code generators on ebay try pressing the calculate button a few times and you will see they are just giving you random numbers each time... The systems like NokiaFree and the Tricksythingie site work only on the old DCT4 models.

Nokia are re-using a lot of their model numbers, the Nokia 6220 which can be unlocked using free codes is not the same as the 6220 Classic, the 6500 which can be unlocked using free codes is not the same as the 6500 Classic or the 6500 Slide...

We used to sell those flashing cables and you can still get them, the problem is unlocking of these handsets is not so simple anymore, even the new phones like the 2630 which is not a BB5 phone is difficult, its a DCT4+ handset and these can be unlocked through flash patching, however you still need something like the Jaf Box or MTBox to unlock.

The more you try free stuff on these phones the more you risk damaging your phone or preventing it from being unlocked, there are some dodgy phone shops out there but some are decent we have been in the industry for over 10 years, we have seen a lot come and go, however its not that easy to do these things, I have nothing to gain by explaining all the above to you
#37
Damage the phone, I suppose you could, like you could reading/writing to a memory card. You're just writing to the EEPROM when you flash, anything goes wrong, re-flash...I never botched a phone...I botched a few flashes and just re-flashed.

you do not need JAF interface to unlock 6220c see here and look at the list and tell me I'm wrong.

As you can see the 6220c can be unlocked via JAF OR USB standard data cable that comes with your phone (u just need 1 dejan trk credit).

I have found other solutions but I think they are cracked versions of Dejan's work so that is not fair.

...Also the prices for the Jaf box on this site are over inflated (like most of these type of sites which is my point you can buy the box with a dejan credit for less)

If you don't want to click the link this is the key info:

Brief Description

YESSS !!! This new credit system from Dejan Kaljevic will allow direct unlock Without Test Points on many of the latest Nokia handsets. No Dongle Required. The standalone software performs Direct Unlock Via Standard USB Cable or Jaf Box Interface. Some models require a JAF interface only to unlock, see table below.

Benefits of credits over dongle

Now you can buy credits for Dejan’s TRK or JAF Unlocker. It's like you have your own virtual Dejan Card. This means you don’t need purchase a full card when you have just one or two phones to unlock.

How Does The Unlock Work ?

You buy credits as and when you need them. Credits are delivered manually via email Within 5 min - 24 Hours

You connect up your phone to your usb cable or jaf box, and use the unlock software to unlock your phone.

What Models Does Dejan BB5 SP Unlocker Support ?

The dejan BB5 SP Unlocker supports the following models:

Is any extra hardware needed?

There are two types of methods for unlocking using dejan credits (USB or JAF) most phones can be unlocked via standard USB cable, but some require a jaf box interface. See table above

USB (TRK Unlocker) uses standard USB cable as supplied with the phone. or available here

JAF (JAF Unlocker) requires a JAF Box interface and 7 pin Fbus cable. (available separately below)

How much does a credit cost ?
Price £22 Per Credit

Dude seriously are you high, after this post I completely give up with trying to help in this thread, lol, THINGS HAVE CHANGED MATE, first you tell someone to use free codes when you have no idea what the 6220 Classic actually is, then you give a free program that in no way will unlock the phone (Dejans Original BB5 Unlocker), NO Matter what cable you use, whether you buy it for a £1000, or build it yourself, or little elves at Santas workshop build it for you...
Then you come back with a little more research and edit your post to add a link to the program that I actually mentioned to you in the first place Dejans TRK unlocker.... ^ Look above... lol

Also your still talking about just flash patching to unlock, lol times have changed dude

Xiwt

you do not need JAF interface to unlock 6220c see here and look at the list and tell me I'm wrong.

LMAO, dude I said you can get 1 credit I even said £22 lol,
"I think you can buy 1 log which is £22 but you need the JAF box to use it" I said I think, we dont use this so I dont know if you need Jaf or not... however NOW the essential thing here is you finally understand that its not actually FREE your still paying £22, instead of £20 for Network Unlock, or £25 the shop unlock, to do the unlock, yourself are you not??? furthermore the shop unlock at least you know it will be done nothing will go wrong and you have some insurance that they wont damage the phone for you, for an extra £3

Anyway please before you go even further and start finding dodgy cracked versions of the TRK unlocker, please first go out and buy the USB cable, buy the Nokia 6220 Classic, download the cracked version, install the cracked version and try unlocking your Nokia 6220 Classic, please after you have done that feel free to PM me and we can discuss further :)

Xiwt

My understanding of the english language would lead me to believe that this means in order to utilise the credit you need the JAF box...I'm sure most people would agree unless they are like Mr. JAFool

I would never use let alone post cracked software ... that is illegal, so we don't need to worry about me doing that... you on the other hand have masterminded some sort of plan...why don't you try it : )
banned#40
So in essence you have gone from saying

1, You can unlock the 6220C using a FREE Code Calculator
2, You can unlock the 6220C using Dejans BB5 RAP3G Unlocker
3, You can unlock the 6220C for Free using flash patching
4, You can unlock the 6220C using the program I said in the first place for £22

Now we are on arguing that you dont have to use a Jaf box with the program I mentioned and the program I said you can buy logs for £22, etc... lol

As I said above we dont use the TRK Unlocker so I dont know 100% about that, however guess what that doesnt really matter at all in this whole situation, its not FREE its not simple, etc anyway as I said I give up, im going to bed, lol
