could use a free sat box, they start at about £70
the sky one is £400 because it has a recordable hard drive inside
simalar products from Humax is roughly the same price "icorder"

lol
freesat was launched ages ago (6th May to be exact)
you can buy recievers almost anywhere now
but the other peron is right, wanting to watch HD freesat you have to buy a seperate reciever the sky one is useless
Unless you pay the subscription they wont give you the HD channels, and you also have to pay for the HD box
also IF you have sky HD, even with a subscription you CANNOT watch ITV HD, its ONLY available on freesat recievers

Either get a Freesat HD box or buy a Sky HD box and get them to twin (card and box) it as a Sky plus box.

You are NOT required to take out a Sky HD sub to receive BBC HD no matter what the people at the Sky call centre say.

Satbuyer.co.uk sell both types of boxes (SKY and Freeview) . £150 for freeview HD box , £259 for Sky HD. If you have Sky+ installed you should only have to swap around the cables, if not (but you do have a Sky dish) then you will need some cables from satelliteonline.co.uk (they have an Install kit with fittings) If you wish to run the second cable yourself.

Isn't it great.

Sky now have competition with Freesat.

Sky is good but the pricing is a 'RIP OFF'

To have access to more content you have to pay a lot more money but guess what, you can only watch one programme at a time, so the other content you are paying megabucks for are wasted. PLUS ... you pay for content and then SKY show really long advertising segments. Surely when you pay for TV we shouldn't have to watch any adverts.

SKY is a 'rip off'' I can't wait til they have recordable Freesat, then SKY ditched!!!!!! Even if you want to pay for HD content, it's dearer for a current customer than for a new customer. Where is the loyalty / reward scheme for long time existing customers?

DOWN WITH SKY! DOWN WITH SKY! DOWN WITH SKY! DOWN WITH SKY! DOWN WITH SKY!

Brilliant rant?

:x
