Hia,

My xbox has been gathering dust for the past few months and the RROD warranty expired yesterday.

I am interested in flashing it, but finding it slightly confused as to how to do it.

Most of the articles on google are from 2009 and ask for either soldering or probing. Is this still the case?

My Liteon drive is a 74850C.

Tim

Btw, this XBOX is a HDMI Arcade model manufactured 2008-06-14

Yes you'll still need a probe for most Liteon drives, You can buy them or make one yourself.

Google - ixtreme and you should find all the info you need.

i bought a sata card and a bit of kit made by ck3

Ive read that you can buy a DKU-5 Nokia USB Data Cable, find the RX (data) cable and probe that to the R707 pin.

So will probably go with that method.

I literally bought a this

CK3 Lite + CK3 Probe 3 + Unlock Kit + XT Adapter

but not the bundle, buy them separately so you save a good £1 lol

You need to take the Xbox apart and look at the label on top of the drive

Will jungleflasher not do it?

Crack the case open. You'll need a small flathead and a torx 12 or allan key to open it.

From what Ive read, with the 7 series liteon, you still need to probe it as it cannot extract the key via SATA, whereas the 8 series, it can be done via sata no need for probing..

Someone mind helping me on how to do it then?

I've got the old stock.bin firmware (I used to get this guy to do it for me) but I bought the ck3 kit..

If I flash to 1.9, do I have to dump the firmware again? if so how?
Any pictures / easier tutorials than jungleflasher

Download the latest jungleflasher. Gives pretty explicit instructions for all drives in the pdf that comes with. If you read this and are still confused then I recommend getting a pro to do it for you. Not especially expensive.

but it does get expensive after the amount of firmwares coming out! better off learning/starting somewhere!

Depends on who you go with. Assuming your drive doesn't need any traces cut to get the key you are looking at £15 and most flashers I know offer free reflashes for a year or so or do it for £5 a time or something after the first one.

That vs. maybe £10 for a via card and £30 for a connectivity kit with probe.

Okay, got the DKU-5 cable earlier, managed to get one computer working with the liteon (emachines running vista, with certain drivers that'd work with the cable) and got my keys and I have just erased the drive.

I have the files, but what do i do with them now? The guide I was using tells me to go to another link - which is dead?

hopefully you have a dummy.bin

download the new 1.9 LT pack here:
LT+ v1.9 - http://hotfile.com/dl/120935934/28dc115/Latest_iXtreme_and_Stock_Firmware_Pack.rar.html presented by: C4eva, Team Jungle & Xecuter | JF v0.1.84B http://hotfile.com/dl/120934614/f050f68/JungleFlasher.0.1.84.Beta%28250%29.rar.html | GUIDE: http://hotfile.com/dl/121022531/5eb7a00/jftut1.4.1B.rar.html
you should open your dummy.bin as source, the latest 1.9 as target, spoof source to target, then save the fw, then write it.

Stand in front of it whilst wearing a long coat, then open the coat quickly, exposing your genitals. Then run away.

Thread closed.

Yeah, i do have the dummy.bin

As i am having trouble using JungleFlasher on the computer that i connected to the liteon I want to use Dosflash to write the fw, i am using my laptop with windows 7 64bit.

I have set the dummy.bin as the source and have downloaded iXtreme, however which of the Liteon PHAT firmware files do I use?

Liteon Pre 13141 or Liteon Post 13141 ?

My dashboard number is : 2.0.12625.0

Thanks,
Tim

Pre, If you ever update the dash to dashboard 2.0.13141.0 or higher then Post.

I recommend flashing back to stock before updating dash, Otherwise it may flag you for a ban or even worse give you an error.

As I dont plan on using live, not updating dash etc, I assume it doesnt really matter?

Yes, But some newer games require updating dash to work.

I'd still recommend, 1. Flash back to stock, 2. Update, 3. Then Flash to Post.

Done that, so will save to pendrive/phone.

Copy it over to other computer (with drive connected), then simply go to write in DOSFLASH and write it?

Edit: Slight problem, when I press write flash in DosFlash32, it says no known flash chip on this port ??

Just make sure you save the Dummy file then should something go wrong you can flash it back, I'm personally only familiar with jungleflasher.

u should be using jungleflasher, it works fine on win7 64bit
#30
Ended up semi-bricking it, so had to make a bootable pendrive and re-erase until i gott xx72.. or whatever it is.

Then flashed it with dosflash in the prompt.

put the drive back together, plugged it back into the 360.. and then it wouldnt work.. about 5 seconds later I realised Id forgotten to recconect the laser cable.. lol

Anyway, just tested it with an original game (L4D) and it works fine, so hopefully when my dual layer disks come it should play them.. :)

I thought that whole "flashing can burn out your laser" theory was debunked ages ago. I guess it can't hurt to pull the cable but I never bother.

I think thats more to do with accidentally knocking the drive while its plugged in during the flashing process.

Outdated now, just use the Jungle Flasher documentation, you need to make a DIY probe v3 though

Thanks, do you not need ck3 ? how do you create a probe ?
