I want to burn all the mail i get to stop others using my name etc, but I have seen nothing that lets me do it. I don't have a fire so cannot do it there. I tried the barby last year, but all that happens is the paper smoulders or does not get burnt under the outer layers. I was thinking of a fire pit or one of those chimera things, but the same is going to happen as happened on the barby. I was thinking of hooking up some kind of fan to blow air in underneath like a furnace, but I got to make sure the paper ashes don't blow all over the back and maybe cause a fire elsewhere.
There just does not seem to be anything out there that does this!

Why don't you just buy a paper shredder. Shred it and then burn it. PYRO ALERT!!!!

We use an old oil drum :w00t:

A chimenia should do the trick, if not go with the shredder. I keep all mine together and when I have a decent amount I take them to work to shred.

Shredder, then chuck the shreds into a bucket of paste and water, make papier mache, and make wonderful sculptures

shred it and put in recycle bin! Dont bloody burn it!

If you have a garden put it on the compost bin.

We shred all our personal mail (buy a cross cut shredder rather than a "straight" shredder).

Then we put it on our compost bin (with leaves / grass etc) so it rots down and then later we put it on the garden as compost.

That way it never leaves the house.

we have a burning barrel and had tonnes of paper to burn, took a while, dont put too much in at a time as it wont all burn. We did all ours and when cooled was just ashes in the bottom of the barrel.

how very nice for your neighbours and the world's climate lol

Dont get me wrong, I'm no green fanatic, but should people really be burning tonnes of paper? :?

We do the same thing and works a treat. Though I'm a bit concerned about all those inks and glue from the envelopes going into the garden where the veggies grow.

Anything that has our name on it goes into a bucket of water. At the end of the week we make it look like Papier Mache, then put it in the recycle bin.

i think the op is being a little paraniod tbh yes people do get their id's stolen but its not just from letters people can steal you id ,and besides chances of it happening are pretty slim, just buy a shredder then put them in the bin

Diamond cut shredder, cant make head nor tail or what was on it once done.

Most will even shred CDs/DVDs/ CCs

I had a call from Egg the other day to say somebody had tried to buy a flight on my egg card for £1,000, was it me.

Nope i replied.

I've not used that card once in over a year so it shows they don't have to be anywhere near you or your belongings to steal your money and identity.

My local council doesn't allow shredded paper in the recycling bin, so i just burn it in a chimnea.
i find it quite therapeutic doing it.

thats most odd as it helps a lot when pulping. Maybe they dont like it loose but would be ok if in a big paper bag or similar:?

I think its partly due to the plastic windows in envelopes and some of the chemically treated papers that the council dont like but dont hold me to that.
