Funny, dcx_badass! :)

curt889: Why not just take the hard drive out of the console case & either keep it, or dispose of it as you see fit.

Instructions/images showing how to do remove it are within the User Manual issued within the original packaging.

Or follow these steps...

(Plenty of video demonstrations on YouTube.com too)

Back up everything on there ... then do a format?

I don't think that wipes the users on there though so you have to deactivate the account?

I didn't read the post properly so didn't realise you couldn't switch it on sorry!

Have you heard about reflowing the board? I did this with my old PS3 that got YLOD to back everything up and wipe it all.

There's a 6 part series kind of thing on YouTube that's easy to follow and worked fine for me, all you need is a heat gun :)

Wrong.
Incorrect.
No it won't.

Put it in another PS3 and format it(It will tell you step by step what to do).
Then put it back in your PS3.

It will take about 5 to 15 mins.

Are you serious?

Both the hard drive(memory), and the NAND(memory) retain information. Try again.
