How do I connect my phone to my wireless BB at home ??

As the title says, I'm trying to connect my N95 8GB to my wireless set-up at home, but am struggling.
It looks as though it is trying to connect, but after a few seconds it shows "Disconnected" and I've no idea why.
The password is set correctly. Could it be that I can't connect if the other wireless unit (laptop) is already connected?

Any help will be appreciated, and repped.

No you can use more than more device wirelessly at the same time with your wi-fi router.

Try deleting the connection completely from your phone and enter it all again? Also unplug your Wi-fi router from the mains and plug it in again after around 30 seconds.

You should be able to do a search for wifi networks on your N95. The phone should then list all the networks it can pick up, and then you select yours.

The only way this wouldn't work is if you have security set on your router.

The security could be a variety of things. Any more detail?

I can search via Wlan Wiz and it picks mine up, most times. My security is WPA and the password is set in the phone. If it helps, I have a Zoom X6 router.

Is your router set to allow only a certain number of other wifi equipment? Is it set to only allow certain MAC addresses? These things are fairly advanced and have to be set by the administrator - if it hasn't been set, or you don't know what those things mean, then it's likely not to be that.

The only other thing I can suggest is whether the N95 firmware needs to be updated. Let us know how you get on.

Does the N95 support WPA?

Try it with encryption off and try WEP as an alternative, should tell you if the encryption is the problem.

Have you tried re-entering the password? It is case sensitive.

I had the same problem with an N82 which was on o2 and kept disconnecting within seconds of connecting to my home wifi , I sent the phone back under the 14 day money back thing because of some problems with o2. I then bought a sim free N82 and it connected no problem to my router, the phone now has a 3 sim card in it.

So not sure if it may be a fault with individual handsets or something to do with the firmware on handsets provided by certain networks but its nothing to do with the router or wifi connection in my opinion

probably completely off the mark here and will get ridiculed for a month or two but dont you have to pair it?

it should just act as a laptop. So you need to see what security you have and as someone else said if you have specific mac addresses only on your network (you would have to have selected this and typed in your computer or laptops mac address during setup.
