Yes, just go digital, use optical??
Or use your normal cable and only use the Red and White off of it into a pair of speakers or an AMP??

At work we Had the PS3 plugged into a DVI monitor with an adaptor, and used the normal cable that ships, plugged into a female Jack and then plugged headphones into them, but you dont need the Jack you can just plug them in to speckers or AMP

Alas no you cant if it only has DVI & VGA, but this seems like a stupid Question, as if it only had those connections, it would not have speakers, so you would not be asking this??? ;)

Or does it have speakers? In which case yes you can get this working on your monitor but you would have another connection maybe a 3.5 Jack? :)

Sorry for my Abruptness, I am only playing :)

OP already said he only has VGA & DVI, I was wonering this, if it has speakers it must have another connector.

I think he meant he only has dvi / vga video input. Must have another connector for audio.

I have this monitor : Fujitsu SCALEOVIEW D22W-1 - LCD display - TFT - 22" - widescreen - 1680 x 1050 - 300 cd/m2 - 1000:1 - 2000:1 (dynamic) - 5 ms - 0.282 mm - DVI-D, VGA - speakers - black, piano black

From what i've gathered I can :

1) use a dvi- hdmi adapter and get video but no audio.. for this i need speakers..? This monitor has an audio port (green one) should that be ok? do i just plug my speakers into that? if yes then problem solved?

Thanks in advance

your monitor has speakers built in. you'll need an audio cable to go from the ps3 to the green audio port.

You can use the DVI to HDMI for picture, and the green cable (I cant find your PC online, not looked very hard only Fujitsu site lol) should be a headphone Jack is it a 3.5mm Jack??? you can tell by plugging headphones in (If headphones work) it is a 3.5mm Jack

then you buy a Phono to Jack adaptor from here

Once you have the above setup, you'll need to go into the Audio settings of the PS3 and change the audio output to Multi AV (so you'll have the supplied AV connected as well as the HDMI - DVI cable). If you don't change this setting, you won't get any sound

eh just one last question :P :

get a hdmi to dvi cable to get video
get a 3.5 mm jack to connect to the audio (green port) at the back of the pc to get dual sound but what do I connect this to?.. yes a headphone socket did fit in it however I couldn't hear any sound when i played a music file and the volume settings were on max (both on headphones and the monitor is this normal?)

Rep added to those who helped so far though, thanks

The headphone socket is for OUTPUT. You're looking for an INPUT. Check where the VGA/DVI sockets are and you should see an audio IN.

No, there is no output, so technically it should work.. this is my config.. http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=FJSMQK1230&utm_source=affiliate&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=webgains&src=wbg1&siteid=20363

One last question though I connect the phono to jack adapter to the green audio port, but where do i connect that to??

Yep - I was trying to decide how best to word it and realised (and I mean no offence to the OP by this) it would have just been confusing. Much clearer to just draw it out in MS Paint

I believe this is what you need, but I still think this cable is too expensive you probably are better off getting a new TV with HDMI

£64.99 in Amazon

I have the problem that my PS3 will not work in one of my LCD because it has not got an HDMI port, and the DVI-HDMI does not work for me because my TV is not a HDCP compatible (first generation of LCD in the market before they start to come with HD ready stuff)

PS: This HDMI-DVI solution of the picture will NOT work if your monitor or LCD is not HDCP compliant

Absolutely - the TV in question does support HDCP tho, so in the OPs case, it'll work fine
