I was round my sister's house yesterday and my daughter couldn't log on to their Sky Broadband as no one knew what the code was.
Does any one know how to retrieve this.
Their laptop was up and running but we couldn't find the key.
I did download a program called WirelessKeyView and that gave me a huge Hex string, but this did not work when cut and pasted so we couldn't connect all day long.

I hate doing this but I have to go out now so can't answer any questions for a while.

Is it actually printed on it then.
I don't have sky so I have no idea.
My sister is not computer literate so this would have been set up for her.

If you have a Sky router, the details are hardcoded into it, so you can't lose them!!
Think we need a bit more info.

Same as above.

My nephew had same trouble connecting his laptop to router but the security key is printed on either the bottom or back of the router where the serial number is. :)

I assume you mean the wireless?
If so, lumoruk is correct, it will be on the bottom of the router.

What further info are you after?

If you mean wireless it is on the router, and you also should have got a couple cards with it too with the key on them, they will probably still be in the box

Ok, I'm off out now, one of the places I'm going to is my sister's so I will look when I get there.

Many thanks to you all.

In your first post you say 'couldnt log on to Sky broadband'.
Does this mean the broadband itself isnt working, i.e. the internet lights on the router are not green?
Or do you mean her laptop wont connect to the router (wirelessly?)

As a sky customer your sister could always ring up sky and ask for the key code ? nes pas:thumbsup::santa:

......Or just look at the sticker at the bottom of the router.....

sky wep code needs to be in capitals.

I'm up and running from my sister's house.
If you've never had sky, you wouldn't know where to look. I chose my key for my router ( Not Sky ) when I set it up.
My sister had this all set up for her,so she didn't have a clue it was there.

It is so easy when you know the answers isn't it.

Thanks everyone. :santa::gift::stocking:

if your trying to setup your sky for wireless you should hard wire you box to your laptop first or use a pc thats connected to it

http://i43.tinypic.com/2lmrim9.jpg

then in your browser type 192.168.0.1 then log in as ADMIN (not in caps) with the pass word sky
top left click maintenance and scroll down to you wep settings they should be as below then go to your pass phrase and type in a pass word to be encrypted ie a good example would be "you cant guess my password"

then click generate, the four codes i have hidden in the black area will be YOUR unique access codes to your wireless network on your router THIS is what you need to enter on your laptop to access your internet from your wireless laptop

does this help?
