How do I get rid of my Solo card?

Don't take the title too literally.

Ok, I'm a student and when I applied for an account with NatWest, they gave me solo cards. These things are quite frustrating, I can't buy any mobile phone contract deals with these. How do I get anything besides a solo? Do I just go to a Natwest branch and ask for an upgrade? Would I have to pay for the upgrade?

PS. I'm a British citizen, if that matters in anyway.

Is it free though? Oh, and I've had it for roughly 4 months.

Just go in and say you want a Maestro, that's what I did. Told them I was sick of not being able to buy stuff at Boots lol.

Yea, that seems like a good last resort.

Solo and Visa Electron DO NOT require a credit score to open the account, as in normal practice these will not be a cheque guarantee card or a over draft arranged.

If you wish to upgrade, normally you have to pay a monthly or weekly wage into the account..

Go to your local branch and ask to upgrade.

I've got a Visa Electron and a Visa Delta on seperate accounts with Halifax if that helps, also have a credit card, but I lost it, and I forgot the pin, and I've not had a statement for two months, but that's another story.

only 5 years 10 months before your debit is wiped then

As above.

Nicely demand a VISA card from Natwest or move elsewhere.

It must depend on the bank as I got a Visa Debit card when I opened my account at Lloyds a couple of years ago , and I was only 16 :w00t:

Nope not cancelled it, it's never been out of my bed room though, so it will be in this big mes somewhere.

if you dont intend using it you should cancel it, even unused they can effect you, my friend had two cards well forgotten about and when she wanted a new card for the good deal she got refused becaus her credit limit was to high even though she hadnt spent on it it shows you as being able to spend an x amount of pounds
