How is your carpet secured? My carpet is just laid down and held in place with "gripper bars" about an inch in from the skirting board. If yours is the same then just pull it up, lay the wires and re-lay it.

Yeah mine is laid in the same way. Just wondered what tools to use that wont damage the wall, grippers or carpet.

Was going to say something like that, the difficult bit is getting the carpet the right size but seeing as the carpet fitters have already done that you should be able to stick it dwn where it was.

Trouble is when they fit carpet they usually stretch it over the grippers so it may not go back easily ?

Just stretch it off/on I think.

fingers...just careful you dont ***** your fingers like i did!
In my current place ive actually just tucked the speaker wire inbetween the skirting and gripper bars, until i upgrade the wire. You can hardly see it anyways.

if you are having trouble geting the edge of the carpet up try a screw drivre or simeler to prise the edge of the carpet up
to refit the carpet use the screw driver again to poke the edge back down behind the griper rods
if you need to stretch the carpet a bit to get it to fit wear trainers for a good grip and do a forwad jump on the carpet to push it into pkace

be carful of the griper rods they are very sharp and the watch you don’t catch the cables on be careful of the griper rods they are very sharp and the watch you don’t catch the cables on them

thats pure expense! When this job is easily done by someone with no previous carpet laying skills, especially if you dont need to bring up the whole carpet for wiring.

Yes, but do they un-stretch when you release them from the gripper bars?

You need a brick bolster to re-fit the carpet, it forces the carpet down tight behind the gripper's and the skirting board.
