HIya
I am looking to bake a cake then make it into a doll with the cake as her dress. I watched a you tube video and the woman uses Betty Crocker frosting. I have looked at it appears to be american. Does anyone know if this is sold in the likes of Tesco Sainsburys etc? Or even better anyone know how to make it?

Also how do you make sugarpaste ie the stuff they use to the figures on the cake?

Cheers Gem

Sainsburys sell the stuff which comes in handy for spur of the moment baking with the kids

you can buy frosting from most supermarkets, you will need a piping bag and nozzles which you can get from the supermarkets aswel unless your just going to put it on with a spatula , in asda they sell a pack of 4 or 5 colours of the sugarpaste for £1.89 which i have used before to make little figures. or hobby craft sell it in larger packs and even ebay.

buttercream is just butter and icing sugar with half teaspoon of vanilla flavouring

approx 4 ounces of butter and 8 ounces icing powder is enough for 12 cupcakes

if you need more than that always use double amount of icing sugar to the amount of butter :)

or if you didnt wanna use buttercream you could use ready rolled icing and colour it with food colouring, careful with how much you use dont wanna make it gooey, you can then mould it round the base

ive used this to make flowers on cakes, easier to buy the ready made stuff then make it yourself hun and its cheaper on ebay just checked and they have loads of colours too.
but this is the recipe i used. i didnt like the texture of it with my figures
