How do you close a thread?

ok lets say ive listed sumthing a week has passed without interest how do i relist the item, i got one of my threads closed as the thread hadnt been properly finished, i accept my breach of the rules but i want to know how you finish a thread to make it acceptable for relisting after the 7 day period?

this is beacause as far as i am aware all i can do is expire my thread... does this count as "locking" and "finishing" the thread? as apparently even when expired my thread is still considered active by the mods?

any advice so i dont breach rules again would be appreciated

cheers

p.s it seems in the thread that due to the last comment being 6days ago this is what breached the rules... but im just dont realy understand the system fully :D

sign into folk with the same details as here and you can close on there then wait 7 full days once closed to relist

You need to click the report/spam option next to the expire option. click the report and a box will come up.. just say something like ''please close'' and a mod will come along and lock it :)

click the report button on your thread, select "other" and ask a mod to close it-once its been locked and closed, you then need to wait 7 days before opening another thread selling the same item
[mod]#5
You would go the the Fo.lk mirror website and find your relevant listing and click the close option in the opening post

http://fo.lk/profile/joeprosho

If you cannot see the close option then report the relevant thread via FS/T for MOD closure. Wait and check that the expired and lock symbol is displayed

It's then 7 days from the last comment - so if that was at 1pm on a monday, then you could relist after 1pm on the following Monday - not on Sunday for example as that would be only 6 days. Hope that helps clarify further.

no, you were 7 days too early. The original thread was only closed an hour ago. All the info is there in the guidelines which most seem to not bother reading. The link to the rules are in EVERY FS thread when you create it, not just on folk so ignorance isnt any excuse really:-

surely its 7 days since the thread was CLOSED, not the last comment date? Otherwise, I can ask a mod to close my old FS threads now and relist them immediately.

you could go onto folk lock your own thread and as long as the last COMMENT was more than 7 days ago yep relist them immediately.

Its actually 7 days from the last comment under the newer system - this means members can often relist much sooner and no additional thread bump is required.
Previously threads could not be relisted until 7 full days had elapsed after expiry and mod closure. Now we have the situation that if your thread had used all 3 bumps and no activity had taken place for 7 days since the last post, members can now self close and relist immediately. It also offers the provision for quicker relists.

Further discussion can be found on the main FS/T rule thread :

no you couldnt because if ask a mod to lock, rather then use fo lk, a mod lock will post in thread to say thread locked, so last post would be by a mod

very confusing for new members, members locking threads via another site is bloody stupid at the most
#12
the rules change so often maybe we should get an email with any rule changes
[mod]#13
Just to clarify, if a member asks us to MOD close/lock a trade thread we won't post a MOD close comment in the thread normally unless there is a specific reason to since the rule change (and haven't for some time) - there were some issues in the past with members not being able to close via Fo.lk, and we still MOD close a number of FS/T threads if asked to do so, but Fo.lk is the correct route as members can close immediately and not wait for the MOD action :)

Having read through this thread, the above seems a rather bold statement.

CSIMAN it makes me happy to know you were yet wrong about the rules, it reminds of our last argument about red dead redemption where you were wrong about the DLC

seeing as though you have spent your time to get at least one of my threads locked on the basis rules you didnt even understand youself i will make it my own personal vendetta to investigate every thread you post so as to correct you wherever you may falter

ahh apologies about the i will never like you i dont particularly want to get overly personal about things as i edited later, but in a more jovial manner i do kind of consider you a sort of nemesis on hotukdeals, its not about getting my thread closed as i can live with that and it is now good to have clarification on rules which was clear to me before your input in this thread,

it just seems to be that whatever thread we meet in our input is always contradictory to one and other which is what brings me to the conclusions of internet relationship,

please dont take this overly serious as everything i say should be taken with a pinch of salt, i enjoy our exchanges within threads and i wouldnt find my time half as interesting if people didnt disagree, argue and debate about things!

it gripes me a little a person would report a week old thread relist when as found out within this thread it turns out it was one day premature, especially considering you didnt fully understand yourself, but i'll live

until next time csiman 8)

Fair enough - We'll just have to agree to disagree then (without personal comments :p )
