Hi Guys,

We have an Acer Revo with XBMC installed on the hard drive. Our little one broke her PC so we are looking to reinstall windows on it for her to use. We have a windows disk but are unable to load it onto the hard drive of the Revo as its not formatted the right way???? Could someone please tell us the best way to go about doing this.

If its any help we have an external DVD drive that we are using to upload the new windows operating system.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Press F12 while starting, then boot from disc, then follow instructions as dcx says.

I think F12 is boot options, but it will say if you look carefully while it is starting

Hi Guys, Thank you for your responses. I have pressed F12 before to load the windows disk and go though the process when it comes round to installing it wont let it because it is in the wrong format. If i rembember rightly it says it cant load it because it is not NTFS or something like that...

I use this program to put my windows installations onto a usb pen drive and then install windows from this onto my revo and other devices (laptops/desktops etc), its really easy to use simply put the windows cd in your cd drive, put your pen drive into the usb port then run the software, its really noddy to use, it usually automatically selects the cd drive and pen drive and you just hit go and it will put the windows install on the flash drive for you.
Hope this helps mucker

one of the first parts of a windows install is telling the installation which partition you would like to install windows on, sometimes there is only 1 partition and sometimes there are 2, you are best to delete both partitions or the only 1 there by pressing D when asked, it will then ask you if you want to continue as all information on the drive will be deleted, if you do it will say press L then again press ENTER to confirm, you will then be asked in which format you want the drive to be formatted in usually 3-4 options, NTFS, NTFS Quick and FAT and/or FAT32, select the NTFS Quick and all should be well, feel free to pm me if you require any further assistance
