Can you get your driving instructor to take you out for a lesson in your car just to go over parking it? It may be worth it just to stop the scuffs on the alloys ;-) Failing that your brother? as he obviously knows the car?

i have a pass plus lesson tomorrow, but going to use the instructors car to save my fuel :p

may ask him if i could maybe set aside a bit time to go out in mine and do some parking? as we are missing a bit of the pass plus out as ive done loads of driving in the dark, could use this time to do some parking maybe?

maybe you just need time to get used to it? We went from a golf to a mazda5(people carrier size) and even though my husband has a hgv licence this one still catches him out!
or get there earl and find a easy space?

when i first passed my test nearly 2years ago i was rubbish at parking and when ever i had to park in a carpark like asda i would always drive to a part with hardly any cars so i could easily get in lol now im not so bad but still dont like trying to get between to cars.

Yep, ask him, for sure, my first car was an mx3, good back in the day and span on a sixpence it was amazing turning, but my next car needed like a 7 point turn in comparison, it does just take time to get used to the car, but if you have some pass plus lessons why take them in his car, ask to take them in yours, its not worth the petrol for the comparison of what you will gain.

well im doing motorways tomorrow, think id prefer his car for that haha. will ask him about giving me some help in parking and see what he says though :-D

The turning radius or turning circle of a vehicle is the size of the smallest circular turn (ie. U-turn) that the vehicle is capable of making

some cars can do a U turn more sharply than other, even if a car has power steering it can still have a poor turning circle which means it will take more space to turn or you might have to reverse it first before you can carry on

no, she means more the turning circle, full lock, so she has maybe more of a 5 point turn when other cars can do the same in three...you know what i mean tho lol

Oh a ten point turn

I think what you need to practice is doing your full lock on much quicker in your own car, you will get there hun, honest.:)

yeah. im just worried i'll clip another car if i turn earlier. i did try it once earlier in an empty car park but the car hadnt turned enough to straighten up by the time i got to the end of the bay, and i wasnt in the lines haha it was a right mess

The only reason you'd do that is clutch control, too quick and nervous still by the sound of it, go out in the evening to an empty car park and practice but forget the instructors car, thats crazy, go out in your car and stop being afraid of doing that, he/she wont mind at all, believe me there is no point at all going in his!

You still need those extra lessons but you need them in your car or you are going to bump something at this rate! You don't have the confidence and i think that's your problem hun.

hmm ok may go in mine then. its gonna be a case of trial and error in an empty car park.

I think it is harder to park in an empty space than it is when there are cars either side as it is difficult to tell where the lines are.

No 'may' about it, just do it! It's your car! that's the one you need help with and you're paying for it fgs! just do it, and believe me it'll all be fine in no time and you will wonder why you worried so much! ;-)

right right haha! ok i'll do it!
#29
I always fine reversing into spaces far easier the going in forwards.. give it a go

ok, its like this

you go close to the side before you turn in, you turn in LATE, you dont expect to go in in one go, then reverse on the opposite lock, then forward and reverse lock again, and you will be lined up

Wow....did a little searching and you've bought the worst car ever for parking .....:-D

11.4m is ridiculous for a car that size ....:-D

You could change your front tyres for normal tyres instead of wide alloys that don't appear to be designed for the car .........it would knock more than 2m off the turning circle ...
