Hi,
I've just recieved my Levis 501 from HOF sale, they didn't have my size, I'm normally a 30R.
So I just ordered 34L, and I also got a pair of Levis 503(loose), size 32R.
I'm thinking of returning the 501s, as they are way too big.
How do I shrink the 501s?
Do I wash them in hot water, like 90oC?
Would they continue to shrink after every wash?
Cheers

wish i had ur problem;

think washing ur jeans will only make em shorter and fade the colour. dont do it. maybe move the button further up....or take it to a tailor in a dry cleaners?

may sound silly but sit in a hot bath wearing the jeans. A friend of mine swears this is the way to get a perfect fit!

I have seen that done on programs about the sixties, so maybe that would work, :-D

Eat lots & lots of cream cakes, or wait 10yrs for the inevitable passing of time & all that goes with it ..... :p

A 90° wash (don't put anything else in as the dye will run) will shrink them as much as possible, but it won't be loads. They won't continue to shrink though after the first time. But that isn't going to shrink the waist band noticeably & the 34" ones are going to be big unless the brand have small sizes as a rule. My eldest takes a 30"L & a 34" would just swamp him. Buy a strong belt ? ;-)

If they say they can't be tumbled, then tumble them.......that always works for me :giggle:

i often buy clothes too big if they dont have my size,
then a real good spin in a tumble/condenser dryer, till they're bone dry definitely shrinks them a lot.
a couple of goes really does it.
have to be put in wet though

would they shrink like 2 inches at least?
i think i could grow into them later

I just imagine you lifting them out of washer / dryer & then falling to pieces :w00t:

Yes, they should be at least an inch shorter. My eldest would grown that much in 2mths anyway at the moment, & if you're the same they should be okay.

But bit worried about the seams etc if they have a lot of washing restrictions. Just check that everything is really well sewn / finished & if so it must be because they are very liable to shrinkage as < hannah19790 > has said - here's hoping ! Good luck ;-)

There are tons of guides to shrink levi's 501. It involves putting it in hot/warm water for awhile. Just do a search on google and follow their instructions.
