Rep is for your red dots (and comment on them)

Solar Flare/Flame Thrower etc. refers to the number of posts you have made.

You can have a look at the 'Rep League', to see who has the most points - http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/memberlist.php?&order=DESC&sort=reputation&pp=30

i think rep and number of posts also affect how many degrees added/deducted from a post if you vote hot/cold...

i think i add/deduct 6-8 centigrade every time i vote hot/cold

but i could be wrong

I don't think that's how it works, I've got less rep/posts than you and I can add/deduct 9 degrees....
