How to format a 1tb drive to fat32

Am trying to format an external hard drive to fat32 so it can be used with a PS3. Obviously Windows has no options in disk management.

Last night I started the process using the command prompt and after 14 hours of it saying it was doing it I got the message "The volume is too big for fat32"

From Google it seems a tool called SwissKnife will do it, however I have installed said program and it won't work, ie I open the program and it immediately crashes

Any suggestions?

I know i have a couple of Fat32 1TB drives so 100% definitely can be done.... just cant remember..... But Completely sure I did it inside windows and not a third paty app.

What OS? Windows 7?

You can :)

Thanks for other suggestions.

In cmd I used something like fs format:e fat32. It went ok, just the size I suppose, although others appear to have used this method with success

For PS3? You not going FTP route?

I seem to being stalked by loons, I regret mentioning in jtt's thread that I want one.

If you read the op you will notice that I have used Google but hit a brick wall. Or did you think I just knew the command for formatting to fat32?

Have installed awesomefiletransfer which is supposed to speed up. But using multiman to take it directly off the disc it wouldn't recognise the hdd, presumably due to formatting.

Nope, internal only has 28gb or so remaining. Although I suppose I could try it.

I have a few to put on there :)

Edit: Also wasn't sure how to do it. Will have a look, presume there's no issue with plugging in an Ethernet cable, didn't want it to auto update the firmware!

I would recommend this tool aswell. I had to use it to format to Fat32 (A USB Pendrive for PS3) worked a treat.

This appears to have formatted it correctly but left me with 128gb free of 1tb, is that normal?

Might try the other one suggested

Use the ridgecrop link above, works great and is the main one we recommend on here, people been using it for years.

Thanks.

Have just set off 'easeus' doing it. We'll see what happens

Buy a new internal HDD for it. I have the 320gig PS3 and have about 20 games on there with plenty spare. Get a 500gigger and you should be good for all the games you can possibly play!

Is it simple? The reason I used external is because I had one lying around

How do you manage to get your apostrophe usage so wrong? If you're not sure then just don't put one anywhere........
