how long do I have to stay with BG for?

Hia,

with the news that BG are putting prices up by 35% I was wondering if I can leave them - I've been with them for around 4 months & they have paid me £120 in quidco payments but I don't recall anything about how long I have to stay with them for - are there any general rules about switching providers so quickly?

On a side note I do realise that other companies will follow suit so it's probably best to wait a while to see what they do before swapping.

Thanks,
worto.

Dunno, not sure how long many women last with Black Gerbil, more seems to be the case how long can Black Gerbil put up with you......

yeah I got 40 for gas & 40 for elec & 40 for boiler care - our boiler is very shoddy & we've had to call them out to fix it once already!

I will probably stay with them for boiler care as they have been really good.

LMAO - I've been with British Gas for a while now and i'm thinking of switching too. I'm sure I remember there not being any kind of tie-in period. :)

it is usually 12 months, after that you can switch. Check the contract/paperwork you initially signed. But i believe they are all 12 months minimum.

Check if your tied in to a contract, what did you sign and for how long ????, IF they have increased prices beyond what was agreed or not in your favour you should be able to walk. :?

I was told by npower that you can change supplier after 28 days, They phoned me up to ask if I was happy with my new supplier, They said I could change back if I wanted. It wasn't a phone call to try and keep me, It was a call to try and rope me back in. I told them to go screw themselves Lol.

oh, 28 days does ring a bell, not 12 months as i originally thought....

No 12 month contracts. I'm with BG as well and don't recall seeing any min contract terms. You should be able to leave any time. But of course, best way is to phone and ask.

i'm a complete tart ,you pay the money , you take the choice.if you switch look for the longest fixed rate you can get.i was with edf up until the being of june ,when i switched to altantic for gas and british gas for electricity. As from yesterday i fixed my prices on Npower till August 2009. i went through uswitch and earned £30 quit for the first switch.for the Npower switch i'm waiting for a free case of wine from virgin.
you don't get any rewards for being loyal.
