How long do you usually have the cold for?

Ive always been a 3-4 days man til i'm feeling better but now had a cold for 3 weeks counting, lack of energy, feeling a bit spaced out, feverish, no appetite, sore limbs. Was feeling better for a couple of days last week but ended up with a stomach bug which caused me to vomit and gave me a dose of the skits! Its now knocked me for six, and have been feeling horrible ever since.

I'm starting to worry there may be something else wrong with me!

Is there a Doctor in the house....?

Luckily I haven't had a bad cold this year ( watch this space! ) but my little girl suffered from the same as you and she just couldn't seem to shift it either, took her at least 3 weeks. Same with other members of my family too, seems that maybe its just a harder one to shift this year?

Although, you can make a doctors appointment just to be on the saft side, you might have an infection somewhere that u need antibiotics for ? Even a telephone appoinment if you can get one, would maybe even put your mind at ease!

Hope you get better soon :)

I've never known a cold to last this long ever, I've felt awful at work but could take any time off!

It's had a bit of everything over the last few weeks. Just can't seem to cough up very much of this damn mucus

I'm the same as you makershaker, usually 3-4 days tops, i've had this one for about 10 now though, gradually felt better since Thursday, but can't seem to shift it, really tired, no energy, no appetite (which is really odd for me) bunged up sinuses, hope it goes by Thursday

mine seemed to shift after 2 weeks but 2 days later got a terrible stomach bug for 24 hours and now I'm back to feeling the way I was. Never had a month like this in my life

No, i am always blocked up and can never smell very well but ive never had this for so long feeling dizzy

There has been one virus after another. This time last year my 7 week old girl was in hospital because of her bronchilitis, she had exactly the same type of cold this year but thankfully now she is older she is coping better. Less than a month ago she had a cold that gave her a bad chest, the month before that she had tonsilitis, the month before that she had a sickness bug. I just cant believe we all get so much and everytime she is ill she goes off her food for a week

Yes this 'dizzy' feeling seems to be a key sympton of this bug, a couple of times I've had to steady myself with a hand on a wall to keep from falling over, very weird.

Anyway I can't be doing with this **** and I've been doing a single clove of raw garlic each night for the last 3 days and now I seem to be kicking it... at bloody last

RAW GARLIC!!!!! i have plenty of menthol remidies but i dont think i could have garlic

Im glad you say the dizzy part is normal though as i start to worry after a week, and i worry because i have a 1yr old in my arms when im having these "hold onto the wall quick" moments

Raw garlic is what the old 'pull bearers?' used to eat collecting all the plague victims, to keep themselves alive.... or so I heard, boosts the immune sytem or something

Must be good stuff if your hard enough to take it ;) ...anyway i seemed to have kicked it now, i just have a bit of a cough now again..... god bless garlic LOL

we've all had "viral" infection for the past 3-4 weeks. Feel a bit better for a day or 2 and then it seems to hit you again. My 7 month old son and 5 yr old daughter have been hit the worst. I've had them to docs loads but they won't give antibiotics. you've probably got something similar. Docs say viral infection can last anything upto 6 weeks. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I've has this virul thing for a good 6 weeks now, some days are better than others, blocked nose, sore throat, (comes on major at night,) then had the sickness bug one night, thats passed but can't rid the phlem and rest of it, seems to be the way I feel now from day to day, can't remember what it was to get up in the morning and be clear.
