How long does a standing order take to show?

I set a standing order from my Barclays account to my cahoot savings, the first payment left my account thursday but its not showing in my cahoot account as yet?

I don't want to call them in case im wrong , but i thought it was pretty much instant? Been a long time since i used standing order.

It's a Bank Transfer, so I'd think no more than 3 working days.

sometimes it can take a little longer, i usually wait between 3 and 5 working days, then panic

It can take up to 5 working days.

As the others have said, it should take 3 days but it can take up to 5 - that's one way that the banks make money, by the interest on our money that isn't ours any more because it going through the system. They hold on to it for as long as they can get away with it - traditionally it was 3 days because that's how long a cheque took to be processed & cleared once paid in to a branch, but nowadays transfer is almost instantaneous (& certanly no longer than 24 hours) but the banks still drag it out so they can get their extra profit from us. (But that's one of the things we have to put up with for free banking.)

Thank you all, wanted to check as its going out weekly and i didnt want to let it ride along if there was a problem :)
