How do I get this iPhone unlocked from orange because they told me that they can't do it? Help please.
#42
I have an iPhone 5 locked by orange since January, I remember on their website it said I have to stay with them for 3 months before they unlock it (which is convenient so I can switch sim cards abroad on summer vacation).

I call them now and they say you have to wait till June because the policy is 6 months...

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?!

You CANNOT change policies without informing the customers, and cannot possibly affect them if they signed the contract based on the previous policy.

And to add insult to injury, the advisor treats you like an ignorant ****, even though you are right and they dont want to admit it.

Worst customer service in the UK..

Now I am supposed to call them halfway through my summer vacation (mid june) and wait 20 days for my phone to be unlocked...

This is just ridiculous..

Does anyone have a complaints email or something so I can write them.. ?

I have been waiting 4 months for them to unlock my iphone 4.
Each time you phone up you get a new excuse as to why its taken so long. It is never their fault apparently.
You ask to speak to someone higher but their managers are always busy. I wonder why!

I bought my daughter a brand new iphone 4 off ebay for her birthday. It was a contract upgrade on Orange and I thought it would be no problem to unlock it. WRONG! Orange are the Hitler of the phone providers and it is ONLY Orange that puts all these obstacles in the way of unlocking. When I phoned them in February they said it would have to be on Orange for 3 months so my poor daughter had to wait to be able to use her new phone on her o2 contract. Well the 3 months is up and I just phoned them, and couldn't believe it when they told me I have to wait 6 MONTHS!! If it was o2 or any other provider I could get it unlocked instantly, and I would never touch Orange or a phone on an Orange contract ever again!

Email the CEO,I don't this after waiting two months and someone phoned me back and had it sorted in less than 24 hours, they also gave me £50 towards my bill for the hassle. Our last contract with orange ends next month. Thank goodness!!

This is an easy one. I transferred to Virgin mobile and had one of their SIM only deals. Best of both worlds...you get a fantastic deal on the package and also piggy back the orange and Tmobile networks...superb coverage and a better deal for less money...Since the EE deal Orange have really switched off....

They are the WORST service provider in UK. Asked for the unlock code at the beginning of July and was told it will be sorted in 21 day and they took the £20 from the account. Three weeks later called them and they had the cheek to say is 21 days minimum.
Called them again after 4 weeks and this time they said they had the wrong IMEI number. They said they will call back and they never did. Call them again and this time they said they can't find the phone number linked to the phone .Absolutely incredible , I have never seen bigger liars than these people in my life. This time asked them to talk with a manager adn this time I got an e-mail saying they will be looking into it . At this moment the phone is still locked after they had the cheek to take the money for a service they did not provide. All this companies should not be allowed to lock telephones anymore . This should be outlawed. As long as you take on a contract which you must pay for 24 months the phone belongs to the customer who should be able to use it when he goes abroad or is up to him to use it as he likes. The phones should be automatically unlocked when you are of the contract as the company made already the profit on that. On what grounds do they charge £20 ? This is an absolute joke.

Did anybody try the new website for unlocking https://explore.ee.co.uk/unlock ? I got a (minimalistic) confirmation email, but then nothing has happened in a few days.

I have been waiting and waiting for orange to unlock a i phone 4, have rang up 6 times now and everytime been given a different story. Because I was sick of going through to indian call centres i rang the collections department, guy there told me to go into a apply shop. So i drove 78 miles to my nearest apple shop and they told me they couldnt do it, it has to come from orange and they referred me to a EE Orange Shop who said sorry we cant do it it has to come from customer services. Tried ringing customer services, gave up after hanging on the phone 2 hours - YES 2 hours. I had that phone 2 years and paid my contract the phone is mine and why orange wont unlock this i just dont know. Ime getting more and more frustrated does anyone have any ideas

They are absolutely awful, i paid £20 to get my iPhone 4 unlocked and they said it would take no more than 21 days.....
Its been a month and a half and all they are saying is, it will be done soon -_-

They are so bad and i will never use them ever!!! If you want to get it unlocked it goes through EE... GO on their facebook page, every comment, interaction and post is a complaint!!!!!!

2 months now of waiting, I phone and get told I will receive it the next day, it never happens. Took my money and did nothing.
Well done Orange you've lost a customer for life. They make BT look good.
#60
I have now been waiting 30 days and still nothing. I phones EE this evening and they said it's to be done 'in the next few days'. I tell them you are 10 days over the time you told me it would take (20 days), how can you justify charges me £20 when you have failed to deliver. Absolutely pathetic. For the UK's 'biggest and fastest network' it really does make the mind boggle. Sticking with SIM only deals from now on, works out cheaper in the long run anyway.
#61
I requested the unlock code "only" two weeks ago, this is so frustrating and ridiculous. Likely for me I am Ovivo, my husband has Orange glad I don't have to deal with them. Hopefully code will come through soon and I will never have to deal with them again!
#62
I was so excited as we got email this morning saying the phone was unlocked.....Unfortunately it does not work,,,,grrrr Not very good, waiting 3 weeks and then it doesn't work!
#63
its been 3 weeks and Orange has still not unlocked my phone, and I have tried calling their customer services who have now told me it can take a further 14 days before they can unlock it. As always Orange has let me down
#64
I've been waiting for 5 WEEKS
#65

Apple Unlock Procedure

1)Insert a non-Orange 3G SIM card. This must be a network provider who also supplies the iphone/ipad.
2)Switch ON the handset.
3)Connect to iTunes using USB cable
4)Use the “restore” option within iTunes (located at the bottom of iTunes not the top)
5)The handset may then display: USB cable and iTunes icon.
6)Disconnect from USB then re-connect
7)Synchronise device with iTunes
8)Once synchronised a message will appear on iTunes stating “Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked” If using IOS5 this message will not show
9)Follow on screen set up instructions to enable new carrier settings

Your handset should now be successfully unlocked

Should this not show, please keep other network 3G sim in the iphone and restore the iphone via iTunes making sure all data is backed up first.
You can also get some self help tips, please put the following into Google and search; support.apple.com/kb/TS3198

Did this work with anyone?

This doesnt work as there is no restore option at the bottom only in the middle next to check update

This is disgraceful conduct by EE / Orange - I purchased an Apple supplied i phone 5 that was an insurance replacement - I ran a full check on the phone to confirm it was unlocked - it was.
I joined EE on a month to month contract and after three months or so I cancelled and moved or tried to move to TESCO.
I paid Orange EE at their request £20 odd to unlock the i phone that had become locked to EE as a result simply of putting their SIM into the phone. They then said - after being chased - "we wont unlock the phone as we did not supply it - goodbye ... oh try Apple" .. Apple said "its locked to Orange and only the Orange can unlock the phone" .......

So like all the others in this situation we are left holding the EE baby - their SIM their network - their responsibility and even then they attempted to charge me - i just paid to get it sorted - but to no avail. So as a lawyer - heres my advice - write a letter of complaint to Investigations Team EE 6 Camberwell Way Sunderland Tyne and Wear SR3 3XN - make it a letter before action - set out the issue - the facts you intend to rely on and a cost of paying to get it unlocked - give them 10 working days to respond fix it and then issue proceedings through the Goverment web site Money Claim online - link below - add all your costs on a time spent basis - your hourly pay will be fine - with luck it may wake them up - you can phone the help line until you go insane - sadly this is the only way - Good luck - GRRRRRRRR - another hour wasted

Beware the Orange EE monthly notice contract my son - there's demons in the bushes - the words Bargepole and Avoid

I paid to have my iphone 4s unlocked from orange roughly 38 days ago.. Since I first called I was told 2 weeks, after 3 weeks I was told 24 hours, after 24 hours I haven't been able to reach anybody from customer service and am put on hold for hours on end. Other than them not understanding a word I say and instead of assisting me wrapping C4 to their ankles, they have done a brilliant job of doing **** all

Oh. My. Days. I have just left Orange/EE yesterday to switch to Three. I phoned EE up directly and got through straightaway to cancel my contract (I've been with them for over 15 years in total). Texted my PAC through which I took to Three and then took out another contract. I was feeling very pleased with myself as it had all been so easy...
Today, my phone (iPhone 4S) is showing No Service so I put my new Three SIM card in and thought that it would all work great. No. Needs to be activated. I didn't know what this meant so went back to the Three shop and they then "helpfully" told me that EE need to unlock the phone for me and this could take 4-5 days!!! I went into an EE Shop and they called customer services for me. I explain what I want and they confirmed it would take "at least" 20 days for the phone to be unlocked and oh, that'll be £20 please.

Reading all these horror stories on this forum, does not fill me with confidence that my phone will be unlocked within the next 3 weeks.

Why does it take so long for them to unlock a phone? My contract had expired so surely, I own the handset now? So how can they justify a £20 unlocking fee? If they can text a PAC to you there and then, then why not the unlock codes too? Doesn't make sense to me.

Under The Sales of Goods Act Orange have breach their contractul oblegation of providing their services to unlock a mobile phone from an orange contract within 3 working days.

The customer once payed the standard £20 is effectively in a contract with Orange.

I have advised them that once i pay the cost to un-lock, if it takes more than three days I will persue a Civil Law Suite
for such a Breach of the Contract.

I suggest other mobile phone customer's follow my example, they don't care about passed customers only present one's
