It's time for a bit of naming and shaming, just got off the phone to "3" to give them a new credit card number to pay the bills as the old one had to get cancelled as someone has apparently cloned it and tried to buy carpets with it!

How long should the call take? 5 minutes.

How long did it take? 42 minutes and 42 seconds!

What's your record?

Phoning littlewoods the first time round, I was "In a Queue" (though my call was very important to them...) for 40mins, then it started ringing and said "I'm sorry, due to high customer volume levels we are unable to take your call at present. Please try later."

And when I had some problems with our wireless router, I spoke to a lady in a call centre in India who couldn't understand my accent and was on the phone for over an hour :giggle:

I hope it wasn't a paid for call! I called customer services from my "3" phone so should be free?

Also phoned xdrive.com today as they've just charged for a free trial I did a year ago. About an hour on several calls to the USA the end of which they kept giving me the same phone number that I proved to them is a dead number! Their official answer was to phone that number, even though I'd already proved to them that it doesn't even ring!!! xdrive.com run by aol by the way.

Was it Netgear?

I had a problem with my router and I was on the phone for 40 mins, I said its all been tested and checked, The router is faulty. "You need to check the cables", I've checked them, "You need to see if any lights are flashing", "Yes, I've checked that as i've explained", "You need to unplug the power cable and plug i back in "Yes I've done that, The router doesn't work, Thats why I said its faulty, "Sorry I can't help you, I'll pass you onto another department", :x

Coincidence or not? You decide.

As above my credit card has apparently been used without my permission and one of the transactions was from cd-wow. I placed a large order with them a few months back but my credit card declined so I assumed that it had never gone through. Then a few days ago they started charging my card with amounts in the region of £70 every 10 minutes or so according to my bank. So I phoned cd-wow and asked why they were doing it, apparently they have no record of having taken any money from me, I also logged into their web-site and couldn't see the order that I placed so again I assume it hasn't gone through. I never received the order either. They say that they'll need to look into it and I should receive a call in the morning. I didn't receive a call so I thought I would phone them at lunch time. When I rang there is an automated message saying that their phones were down and would be fixed "soon". That was about a week ago! All they answer to e-mails is please provide us with the order number, I have no order number as the order never went through!!!

Credit card issuer says it's gonna take a month to get money back. Not sure if it's a coincendence that the day they're due to phone back the phones mysteriously all go down for about a week!

I been trying to contact Nintendo (my son's DS need mending) for the last 3 days but I refuse to stay on the line for more than 30 mins, I have looked on these phone number sites to get an alternative for an 0870 number but none have come up, I emailed their customer services but have recieved no reply .....help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it less than a year old, if so take it back to the store and demand another (unless your kid broke it) as its their responsibility. If not, try emailing them or calling at an off-peak time i guess. Ive only ever heard good things about Nintendos customer service.

May i ask what went wrong with it please, 'Ninty stuff is usually built pretty solid.

Both my kids Nintendos need reapairing. The hinges have partially broken - and its something that appears to be a regular problem judging from things Ive seen online. I suppose if you treat them with kids gloves, it wouldnt happen - but my kids forget to put them on! Not sure where we stand with this regarding warrenty. I have seen people getting theirs replaced - but just havent got round to calling them!

3 and a half hours trying to leave the Vodafone division of CPW, who quite simply didn't have the handset I wanted. Having been a Vodafone customer for over 8 years I was fuming at the way I was treated.

Orange had a bug in their systems a few months ago.

My Orange contract phone is kind of a spare phone which I only occasionally carry with me so was not of importance to anyone.

I called them @ approx 3pm that day, due to the bug and because I wasn't bothered, i left it plugged in overnight, it was still going on hold 5pm the next day, 14hour phone call to their, thankfully free 150 number :-D

That's pretty good going! Was all that time talking or alot of it on hold?

Most time I've ever spent talking was about an hour and a half with carphone warehouse, what a coincidence? I spent about 20-30 hours on the phone to them over about 4 weeks just to get £100 that they owed me, I got it in the end plus some extra on top for my inconvenience but it was discrageful that they took so long, should've been a 5 minute call to say you owe me £100, they should've said yes I can see that on the system, your money will be with you within 7 days or something like that. Why does it take 4 weeks and over 20 hours of calls???
#20
Only because it was to a free CS number.

Even with O2's new 22,000minute (15days of non stop calls) weekend tariffs, they put a limit to length of each call 1h or so.

That call was during some of their move to India call centres I believe, so I must of been stuck in their system over there.

2 hours 17 minutes. to my accountants (soon to be ex accountants) just to update my address and new company bank details. 0845 number too.

I only brought it May. The top screen has a black dot about the size of a tem pence piece on it. I took it back to Toys R Us and it was the manager there that told me to ring Nintendo, I've tried and tried to ring but they just keep me holding, they haven't replied to my email either, :x

HSBC, 15 minutes to make a payment to my mortgage over the phone. Should take about 2 minutes really, no time on hold, straight through to someone. Very friendly people, just quite slow!

40 minutes on hold with orange, then they answered and disconnected my call by mistake! Had to call back and that time I was on hold for 35 minutes before they answered and said it wasnt their fault and blamed microsoft!

It was a paid phone call, we had a lot like that and wrote to them to complain. They replied with "If you dont want to pay for the call, then dont call for help"

How about this then.........................Spent 55min on hold trying to pay my...............................................BT phone bill!!!!!!!!!!:x

Most of it was being transfered between departments and explaining my details and situation over and over again. One of their employees hung up on me after a forty minute argument. My level of conversation had basically reached the point where all I would keep repeating was "Not interested, I want my PAC code" whilst they kept telling me about other handsets and deals they could offer.

I know my dad spent over a week ringing Sony to get his monitor replaced - I've never seen him so angry :-D We must have heard the Anastasia album 10 times over that week as they left him on hold so often.

Actually, I tell a lie. My dad recently spent 5 weeks ringing TalkTalk from work because his home phone line was not working which had him in a fury.

I had something similar recently, phoned Tesco for what should be a 2 minute query about 10 minutes before they closed, got through and instantly hung up on me, so I thought I'll phone back as they made a mistake, over the next 10 minutes it happened about 5 more times! They obviously didn't want to get into any sort of conversation and get off home early!

Had to phone Phones4u recently and recorded the call, warned CS lady that I would be recording and spent the next half hour arguing about whether I could record the call. She kept saying that I could record the call but I didn't have her permission! Talk about a contradiction! At the end of the call she again said that I didn't have permission but if I wanted a copy of the call I could pay them £10 to give it to me. What's the only difference between my copy and her copy? £10! So she obviously didn't mind being recorded as it was recorded anyway, she obviously didn't mind me having a copy as she told me how to get one, she just wanted to make it as hard as possible and make it cost me £10 for no reason!
