Is asking your solicitor an option?

Well it all depends obviously, i assume circumstances are different for different people?

We bought privately a couple of years ago and it took about 4 weeks, we've recently sold privately and it took closer to 10.
It depends on searches, having all relevant paperwork in place and on how motivated your solicitor is.

As JB said it depends on a multitude of factors, your solicitor should be the best to assist, but keep the pressure on him

Depends on how smoothly the sale itself proceeds, whether your buyer has funds or if his mortgage is in place, whether the survey has been done etc.

It also depends how fast you can vacate the property!

All other things being equal and in place, you should be able to exchange contracts is a couple of weeks them, if everything else goes OK you should be able to complete in as little as 10 days, though it can be 4 weeks.
