How many days holiday do you get per year?

How many days paid holiday do you get from your employer per year, not including days you can buy or sell? I get 28 plus bank holidays, but a friend gets 31 plus BH. Discuss :-p

They take it in turns. I usually have 1 per year at most due to feeling really ill, gone quite a few years with no sick days.

None, my "employer" tells me i'm self employed so I dont get holidays. Its a nice trick more and more multi-national/uk companies are doing, to get out of paying a lot of money. Can't wait until HMRC chases them up for it though.

legal minimum is 28 days but this can include 8 bank hols so 20 really which is four weeks any extra is down to the kindnest of your company !

I used to get 35 plus BHols, hubby has always only had 20 plus BHols, but from Jan will be getting 25 plus BHols, plus sick pay (when he used to take hol pay when he was sick, or go in to work!) plus the sites are shut down for whatever is sensible over Christmas / New Year, usually more than a full week - depending on when Christmas Day actually falls.
