joggers look silly, especially the fat ones, get a bike and save your knees

How far is your local train station? Just ride to there and jump on the train. People like that.

Until you're tired out. I do 2 x 5.5 miles a day to work and back and that's easy enough.

Just ran a 10k on Sunday.

Used thistraining programme and found it realistic and achievable.

Swimming, rowing and cycling as my cross training.

You don't give your age.

I would suggest walking first for about half an hour, then add small amounts of jogging during the walk building up over a couple of months. and also getting a checkup with GP.

From then it depends what kind of fitness level you are aiming at.

Still young, but reaching that age when your body takes more time to recover. If you have not done any jogging for some years you should start of real slow. Worse thing you can do it shoot out of the gate and do yourself an injury.

The most important thing as far as I am concerned is to build the excersise into your routine. look at the first few weeks as toe dipping and focus on not straining anything. Then you will be in a good position to decide yourself where you want to go with distance etc.

Plenty of info and advice around online.

Go for a run. See how far you get. Then run that distance +10% the next day.

Have a look at the runners world website under training there are really good plans on there to get you going. Good luck!

The NHS Choices site also has its own version....download to mp3 player etc and it tells you when to run and when to stop (no need for a watch). Its very good

What you start with is up to you and it pretty much depends on your current fitness levels - maybe try week 2 and if thats too easy maybe jump to week 4 or 5.

Go out for a run and stop when you get tired , then stick to that routine for a while (prob 2 weeks) then slowly start increasing the distance.
Worst thing you can do is to overdo it when starting again.

Just been out and completed a 5k jog! I was out of breath a couple of time so I had to stop and catch my breath and then continue and when I say couple I mean 7 or 8 times :o) I am really glad I did it and i'll keep you guys updated on my progress.

Thanks for comments :o)
