about £80 just for the parts

Between £60 - £80 for the brakes roughly, then cost of labour. Maybe you could ask a mobile mechanic? Cheaper than garages? My mate does my car for me, he is a mobile mechanic and he charges lot less than garages

£120 or so fitted.

buypartsby (sutton auto factors) mail order price (plus postage):
£16.34+VAT for axle set of pads.
£7.45+vat per disc (vented or solid)

Hehe, diddly little things.

Front discs and pads; an hour is not unrealistic.

Well, the gf's mum put it into her garage to get a quote, then told the garage to just go ahead and do the work..........

.......... £180.44!

This was the rough breakdown off the top of my head (excluding VAT)...

Labour - £55
Discs - £21 each = £42
Front Pads - £21
"Back brakes polishing" - £40

They were roughly the figures. Regardless it came to £180.22 with the VAT.

Pardon my French, but thats fo0king extortionate!!!

yes one hour and a proper job carriers cleaned and pads coppersliped
any day u want , just drop um off , i cant get enough of jobs like that.
just look at the labour figure of the quote she got that should tell you how long a job it is.
except they are stinging them for the parts.
