How much debt do you have?

student_mummy Avatar
banned7y, 6m agoPosted 7 years, 6 months ago
Another post just got me thinking...
Just figured out that I have a ton of debt and im only 21 :-(

Student loans etc - £8000
Student Overdraft - £4000 over 2 accounts
Catalogues - £1000 (spread over 4 though, no interest)
Car - £6000

Thankfully my student overdrafts have no interest an my student loans have only a teeny tiny APR but still... im doing my degree to better myself but I will have to start my working life paying back a huge debt which is mostly related to being a student.

Doesnt seem right!! :x

Your choice and you knew the facts before so why complain?

Did you need to get a car worth so much?

It is all your own doing innit.

I don't see where she's complaining at all.

She's just saying how much she has and at what age, and she will have to work to pay it back....

Good on you for trying to better yourself.
I agree it does seem unfair but it will be worth it in the end :)

Oh a 6K + one.

My first car was £3.600 and I paid in cash and I was a student. If I never had the money I wouldn't have got it.

I still have a student loan but that is life.

Its also full of idiots who want everything now rather than work for it and cry when the baliffs come round.

seems to be more and more a problem with the current youth of our world (but not in every case)

Is not argumentative its stating fact. I presume you are stating that to be massively in debt is OK.

Just makes me laugh when people state "it must be the banks / credits cards fault"

WHAT A LOAD OF TOSH, YOU KNOW THE RULES WHEN YOU TAKE DEBT ON, ITS YOUR FAULT, AND YOURS ALONE.

So don't bleat when it goes wrong..

PS if You want to solve part of your debt problems flog the expensive car and get a little runaround, or is the expensive car part of the "image" that you believe you have a god given right to have.

There are 2 elements to the loan though - £3kish for everyone and the other £1.5k is income assessed (so that would be on bf income too)
#38
Have you applied for access to learning fund? A word of warning about student overdrafts, they have been known to revoke them if you don't keep having money paid into them and most banks say you can only have a student account if it is your only one. Also they will start charging interest after you graduate.
