How much do you reckon I should sell my MBP 15'' late 2011 for ?
Hiya
I am having to upgrade to a 27'' iMac in a couple of weeks, mainly for the screen estate and so that it can be used as a family computer.
I will be selling off my MBP 15'' late 2011 model I bought a few months back to fund the purchase. The config is:
2.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
750GB SATA 7200 rpm hard disk
1,680 x 1,050 glossy display (not the lower res version)
Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 1GB GDDR5
It has applecare till 2015.
It cost me about £2000 to purchase, and there's not a single scratch on it (Speck Satin hard-case since day 1).
How much do you reckon I could sell it for ? Might be listing on eBay or here or a couple of forums if I go ahead with the purchase.
Thanks.

I'll definitely not be listing it anywhere else if I list here.
Also it's good to really highlight the extra AppleCare, it definitely helps sell the system and will add value to it.
And btw, I also upgraded to a 27" iMac from my MBP and it blows it out of the water, you'll be very pleased with it :)

From experience your probably better off waiting for the new ones to come out, especially if they get rid of the CD drive on the 2012 models, yours will then regain some perceived value - although if they bring out Macbook Pro 15"'s with retina screens, 14-18 hour battery life, Intel HD4000 graphics plus AMD or NVidia graphics with 2GB graphics memory yours could plummet like a stone.
Refurb price for base (plus yours has extras)
£1,569.00
upgraded HD: user could do
upgraded memory: user could do
upgraded screen: Great selling point now, might not be with retina
Screen: glossy, negative (I hate the glossy on mine)
dvd drive: not a good selling point now, might be after the refresh (whether thats a good move by Apple I don't know, I'd prefer blu ray but then I like to own things as opposed to the Netflix, pay money to stream, own nothing long term).
Applecare: A good selling point.
So I suppose your lowest should be what Apple are selling a slightly lower spec macbook for.
Also a lot of people know the education store discount trick which if spec'ing an exact match of your machine is:
£1,674.00 with upgrades from Apple plus £40 in extra RAM from crucial and inc 3 years Applecare.
Additionally, just seen this:

£1,484.54
Personally I'd resist losing £500 on it and just get an external monitor or attempt to trade with someone who has an iMac but wants a MBP.

I'm ready to lose about £300 - £400 max on the MBP. I know there's no other way unfortunately, if I need to sell fast and get the iMac, which we've sat down and decided on. No point in having three notebooks at home anyway. An external monitor won't suffice since I'll be upgrading the iMac to it's gills with added RAM, 2TB hdd etc.
But yeah, I think I should now wait for the new model to come out and then sell. Will have a much clearer picture as well. Then put it up as auction on eBay with a reserve or on here. Not at the same time ofc :p
