I don't pay anything for the water rates directly as such but pay management fees of £360 per year (£30 per month)which includes the water rates. The management fee pays for the roads, water pipes, maintenance of hedges, trees etc.

Bella, try your water providers website they usually have something set up where you answer questions online and it tells you whether you would be better off with a meter.

I did it online with United Utilities and i should save money as its only me,they have just been round to survey my property and the water meter will be fitted soon.

With UU i have the option of changing back within 13 months so i've got nothing to lose in haviing one fitted to see how i go.
