You can recover your gamertag, but saves etc... stored on the hard drive need to be transferred via a data cable. (you get these free if you buy a hard drive as a seperate (offical one!)

otherwise,

You can pick them up on ebay etc...... (have a good look round though prices vary)

Damn! I need to sell my xbox first so i have money towards a new one! Will have to lose my saves then :( How about any arcade games i have bought?

Is £100 too much for my xbox above? its a launch console, never gone wrong.

You can now transfer your content across the machines with a USB Memory stick, the last dash update lets you do it, I havent seen a port on the new slim 360 which looks like it would take the official memory card.

So no need for a data transfer kit.

One its on the new console you can migrate your licence to the new console so that you can play it offline without connecting to the net by following the instructions HERE

id keep it buy a network addaptor and kinect addaptor save money the when you get red ring then tade and uprgrade hope this helps

however kinect is not compatible with every xbox 360 console so i am guessing that means the originals

Microsoft said Kinect will work with all consoles.
