How much (Roughly) is my PC worth

Have been looking at laptops recently and now think i know what i want to get, but am after a rough guess as to what my pc is worth. Ive included two rough pictures of both the base unit, and the monitor (which i will probably sell seperate to the base unit i think when it comes to it. Anyway, inside the PC is the following

Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L Motherboard (Skt 775)

2160 Dual Core Intel CPU @1.8ghz (With Arctic Freezer Pro 7 Cooler attached as it will actually run at 3.4Ghz Comfortably with this attached and i have previously.

2GB DDR 2 PC6400 Ram (2x 1GB Sticks) OCZ (overclockers?) RAM

an XFX 7600GT Graphics Card 256MB

Pioneer 112D DVD Writer

250GB Sata Hard Drive

Sound and LAN are both onboard.

Its got some fancy lighting inside the case as well, and various added fans to keep the whole lot cool. Think the Power Supply is an Arctic 500 Model (i had an 8800GT running on this a while back and it coped with that fine enough.

Anyways just wanted to get a rough idea on its value.

I also have with this a 24" Samsung Widescreen Monitor which is only a few months old, Model is 2494HS

Ive attached 2 rough quality pictures if anyone wants to look and advise

you cant list it for 7 days after this thread gets locked, so report it then you will have to wait 7 days before you can list it.
#8
you cant sell it on here now for another seven days
#9
because i have enquired about how much something is worth? Seriously? lol

im afraid thats true.

im not being an **** or anything, but can someone show me the link to this? lol. I totally understnad that if i put something up for sale and for whatever reason it doesnt happen, that i have to have the thread locked, and wait 7 days, but ive not done this. This is posted in the nonsense forum, is an enquiry and not a sale in any way, so why do i have to wait 7 days to list it? If im wrong then i am wrong, i just dont see the logic?

LISTING A TRADE, SALE OR REQUEST

Full FS Rules will apply to ANY thread listing of personal trade items in other forums here, including requests for pricing.
#15
nope no logic to it but they is the rules, who made them we are not to question and if we do we get knocked down, lol
#16
ok thats fair enough i just dont understand the reasoning behind that though, it seems pointless to me

because it is seen as you using this thread to drum up interest therefore unfair oin others who have to use their 3 bumps to drum up interest
#18
but this is a nonsense forum is it not, to talk about anything? If i was to post a thread to drum up interest why would i have not have just listed it in the FS/FT forum at a high price, and let people talk me down to what its actually worth? I suppose i could have done that and it would have been fine?

because you can only use 3 bumps in the fs board, so here you have some interest before even using a bump, its also to stop people posting in the fs thread then posting in misc to self promote their sales, etc,etc
banned#20
The rule was decided to stop the floods of people asking "how much is this worth before i put it on the Fs/Ft forum"
#21
i understand that, but i didnt ask for people to come onto this thread offering to take certain parts off me did i, i never put anything like that in my first post. And im assuming thats what you mean by drumming interest? Surely i cant help what other people might want to put on my thread?

And yes, i also agree when you say it stops people listing a FS thread, then slef promoting in MISC, but i havent done that have i so its not a valid point.

Im not going to argue as i dont see the point, but the only reason i asked in MISC first of a rough value, was so that i didnt list it way overpriced etc, THEN get a FS thread full of people telling me its too high priced etc, and countless replies offering me differing prices to ones i have put that may or may not have been way out of whack
banned#22
and how do the mods know which ones are really for a price and which arte trying to flout the rules, i think its a good thing and gald to see it implemented, nobody is going to put the real reason in the oepning post when they know its against the rules, not saying this is the case here, but anyone can say its to find a price
#23
the only reason in this case i asked on here first of a rough price is because with PCs and stuff its never black and white. I want to sell a DVD, i go look on the net, see what its worth everywhere else, sell a game, same thing, sell anything that basically has a model number, you can find out what its value is somewhere on the net. With a PC you cant, thats why i asked. To get the knowledge of people who might know a tad more than me. And judging by the fact that one said £200 and the other said £350 i would argue that they didnt really know either. But yet because of them two bits of valuable information, i cant list for 7 days even though ive actualyl not really been offered concrete advice on anything. Anyways, rant over lol

infortnately the rules are across the boards, not member specific:thumbsup:

i agree with sassie, its good otherwise people were putting it here, getting offers and getting interested parties then placing their items in FS. therefore side stepping the rules. so the rule is just there to stop people doing so.

Doesnt matter what your intentions are, as it could be exploited they stopped allowing it, thus also stopping legitimate questions. What you could have done if you didnt want to wait 7 days was list it in FS/FT at a fairly high price and people would have easily started to tell you what its worth by means of offers, and a few nicer people might give you an honest answer as well and say what they go for.

Yes but because i didnt know the value, whats to stop a mod coming on to my listing and closing it because i have gone over that they deem to the RRP or whatever of what things are worth? So i could have listed it for high, and gotten it locked anyways as overpricing is, in the eyes of Hotdeals, also against the rules
banned#27
see post 3 and 4, your intention may have been to get a price, it didn't stop post 3 and 4 did it, so already got a sale in mind without using any bumps, so should every member post one of these in misc a or do you think it makes more sense to have a blanket rule

it wouldnt have been deemed over RRP mainly as you could have bought these when they were first released and spent £1000 on it all, thus people would just have to provide links to all the products and then you would have to reduce, nothing more.

I know its annoying and does hinder honest people like yourself from establishing a price first, but it stops the idiots as well. Thats what you need to understand.

So personally I'd stop getting worked up, ask for this thread to be shut, and then wait your 7days to list and then get it up.

Best of luck with sale anyways.
#29
i dont understand how it can be said that i had a sale in "mind" when A, id never mentioned a price for anything, only read what two people had put and B, i never said i wuodl split anything up that i was getting a price for. It was only out of courtesy for the chap that i replied to that i did as i had dealt with him before. Nothing more, nothing less and nothing untoward.

Like i said, they are the rules and i guess its either like it or lump it, but i do actually believe that there can be circumstances when the questions need asking. Lets say i put it straight in the FS thread, having not enquired, and i underpriced it because its worth more than i thought, and people on that thread told me it was worth more, then what? I cant up the price because it is my responsibility to make sure the price is good in the first place. But i cant find out a rough idea of what it should be, because thats not allowed on here. But i bet the Mods would also come down hard and fast if i found out it was worth alot more, and i pulled it as i wanted to list it higher

every rule that comes out, members find a way to abuse it, hence more rules, mods do not have the time or the inclination to look into every thread going and find out what the real intention could have been or was, its a blanket rule to stop misc being abused, the misc was getting alot of these threads and almost deals being done, so to stop this as its unfair on others the rule was put into place across the board, nothing personal but i think its one fo the good rules and glad to see its inplace

thats totally fair enough. I admit i didnt know Misc was being used in that way previous. I think really my point was is that i dont see what it stops. As im allowed to ask the question in Misc, the only thing its stops is that an item cant therefore be listed for 7 days. So my point was, i didnt see what the 7 day wait actually solved? As in 7 days i can list the item if i choose, and ive still done the same thing in the mods eyes, obtaining a rough price, waiting, then listing. Its the 7 day thing i dont understand as it doesnt stop anything, only delays it. (Which again, wasnt my intention, it was merely a query)

the 7 days is to stop people posting something, bumping it 3 times in one day, locking it and listing it again within minutes and bumping it again 3 times and so forth, so basically someone could relist the same item continually making the 3 bump rule pointless

If it was too low you could have removed it from sale, then put it back up in 7days...then got ridiculed for putting your price up on the new thread probably though.

But that 7 day delay will often mean people forgot, loss interest etc. Especially as most people on here are impatient!

yes i get that, and you are talking about things going in the FS forum and i agree with that totally. But im saying i havent listed the item. There is nothing in the FS board regarding what i have asked. And yes if i did put it up there and i pulled it, or it got pulled then yes i understand why you wait 7 days. I totally get that part. But i havent listed anything, ive asked a question about something i have in my possesion i didnt know the value of. And like the other chap said, had i of pulled the item if i had got the price wrong, and relisted it 7 days later with a higher price, id have gotten hung drawn and quartered that way as well probably ;-)

No, we have already discussed this. I was merely trying to establish a way i could have gone about the query i had etc , without running into potential problems, and without having to resort to this 7 day wait

do what everyone else does, check out ebay, other sites, av forums, stick in price you want, or ask in misc and wait 7 days
