You need to consider over high value items over £1500

Whether you want cover for accidental damage

Cover for taking items outside and anything happening to them

The excess for the policy and whether there is a compulsory one

I buy combined buildings and contents so not sure about prices but most of the companies are reliable enough as ive used quite a few for car and home and never had any problems. Use places like , etc to check the prices as well as direct to sites like direct line who arnt on price comparison sites
I went with Aviva and got free contents insurance it was a lot cheaper than anyone else. I got about 7 or 8 quotes.

I paid £162 inclusive.

Contents insured to the value of £55000.
£65 with £30 cashback through quidco. Tracked through AA, 40K cover.
I have just sorted my mums contents out with Virgin. £65 a year for contents. Lots off things to consider. Location, what cover you want, excess, youre age, if you want phones covered.

I have my buildings and contents with Tesco. They cover for wallets and phones.

I also sorted out sme basic cover for a friend. Covered for £15,000 off contents with £250 excess for £70 a year. That was the first insurace they had taken out!
I paid £140 with AA, live in rural outbacks, £40k of cover 1 year no claims, under 30 with two babies so got accidental damage included just incase
