you need to flash the ddv drive (needs to be a benq or hitachi one (liteon is harder to do)

you use an app called iextreme

google to find your drive manufacturer and also google iextreme and you will be there

whats the MFR date of your console?

If it is a BenQ drive, send it me and I will do it for a Beer. (and the cost of getting it back to you)

Otherwise you are on your own i'm affraid, I've done many BenQ's, just not tried any others yet, so wouldnt be confident doing one for someone else that wasnt a BenQ.

check here, scroll down, it shows you how to identify which drive you have

It was bought on the first day of release, The only prob is that I am worried about sending it away incase I never get it back, I wouldnt have a clue how to take it apart and do it myself, much prefer to pay or buy one chipped as I want one for online and the other for gaming

i can get it done, adamo can vouch for me,he sent me 2 for my mate to do.

that's exactly the way to do it m8...

with yours, if it is a very first one, it wont have a BenQ drive dude, so i'm out, but somebody else may be able to help you.

Sorry to jump in on this thread OP, but does anyone know if you can get your 360 flashed to play my backed up games, without getting blocked from X-Box Live, I have a recent Elite console if that makes a difference?
#13
Can we get this moved to MISC where it should be?

It isnt the flashing of the drive that gets you banned mukka, one of the lads where I work has his Elite flashed.

You need to ensure any backed up games are "stealthed"

You will not get banned from xbox live unless:

1) You go online and shout around that you have a flashed 360 (people file a complaint against you for "tampering")

2) You really take the biscuit and play your back up games online two weeks before release date!

I'm not promising you won't, but i have been on live for about 6 months w/ flashed 360, just don't play your un-released games until release date! I have been playing all the latest games and some that aren't even out (gow2, fallout3) on my profile but just don't play online!

Firstly rep to everyone for their responses...

Tell me more about the 'stealthing'?

stealth patched is basically where every file(ss,pfi, dmi)are in place and that the random padding is ok and that it matches the retail version of the game to a 1:1 copy.
most online scene releases are fully patched, but there are softwares to check before you would burn so to speak.
its very safe now anyways as iextreme 1.41 will only play stealth games,so there is minimum risk,im told that sammy, hitachi and benq are undetectable now as everything has been implemented wether it in the firmware ro the game disks, its just spoofing which is dangerous and i think would be easy to spot.

Do you need a certain DVD drive on your PC to burn back-up games?
#21
This my friend may be what i want for xmas!!

whats the cheapest you can pick a chipped console up for?
#22
i needs to be able to burn in BOOK TYPE,most dual layer dvd writers these days are cabable, but i have always used pioneer with great success,.
vengod - as liteons are not fully hacked yet,the older ones are a bit more valuable to folk wanting to hack, but expect to pay around or just over retail for one,my mate sometimes does them for £30 over retail with 3 games and flashed, but he non at moment and only does them to order now,but its money upfront as he buys them with your money, only fair really so he dont get stuck with them, last one he sold was an arcade with hdmi flashed with 3 games for £150 delivered, which aint bad,but it had no memory card/HD
